hi, im interested in creating a plugin for monodevelop, but i dont
know so much so i need some samples, i miss an option. in visual
studio there is a new type of project called Extensibility/ visual
studio plugin..., i think this can be a good idea for monodevelop, a
new type of project so people can center in the real thing.

there are samples for extensibility in monodevelop? (ive seen videos
about mono.addins but i dont understand wery well how to connect this
with monodevelop....)

You can set the 'id' of the node. The path of a node is the extension
path composed with the id's of the parent nodes.

About accessing raw xml data of the node, you have to do it through a
custom extension node. See:

You can load the assembly using Assembly.LoadFrom(), providing the full
path to the assembly.

Hello, I am Ventsko Alexander and I am a student at Southern Federal University, Russia.
Item my diploma (bachelor's) work is closely related to Mono Develop - writing Add-ins (plugins).
But the study, I encountered problems.
In your documentation (http://monodevelop.com/Developers/Articles/Creating_a_Simple_Add-in) says: "Now build and run the project. The resulting MonoDevelop.Samples.DateInserter.dll is your addin. If you drop it into ~ / .config / MonoDevelop / addins / and run MonoDevelop, you will see the new command in the edit menu. " and ... "It's done! Rebuild the project, and copy MonoDevelop.Samples.DateInserter.dll to ~ / .config / MonoDevelop / addins again, overwriting the incomplete version from earlier." But I have Windows and I was not clear where to put MonoDevelop.Samples.DateInserter.dll, to obtain the desired result.
I am drop in "D: \ Program Files \ MonoDevelop \ AddIns", but there are no results. 'll Show me how can I solve this problem in Windows ... And if there is
send us more examples of what is Add-in, because I will need to rewrite the compiler of the educational system PascalABC.net from Windows to Linux system ...

Could not load file or assembly for already loaded addin

Hi-

I'm trying to use Mono.Addins with Castle ActiveRecord (object
relational mapping system). Part of using ActiveRecord is calling the
ActiveRecordStarter.RegisterAssemblies() method on an assembly that
contains models to map. When I try to do this on an assembly that has
been loaded with Mono.Addins, I get a "Could not load file or
assembly" exception. It gets raised on an internal call to
Assembly.Load().

I don't know why it's trying to load the assembly even though I know
it's already been loaded. But that said, I understand the exception
since the assembly is not located in the application's bin directory
(it's in a separate addin directory). So, my question is, how can I
make the .NET/Mono runtime know where to look for this assembly and/or
have it available from Assembly.Load()?

Any help would be appreciated.

Unload plugins

Hello

I have downloaded a simple sample from the following url: http://geekswithblogs.net/johnhaigh/archive/2009/10/05/monoaddinswindowsformsapplicationsamplepart1.aspx

I am a bit new to all this, so wondering if anyone could help me. I would like to try unload a plugin after it have been loaded. So to do this i imagine that i would need to some how get a list of all loaded plugins and then select the one i want and call some kinda unload on it. But i cant figure out how to do this, any help would be very appreciated.

Great, thanks! I was accidentally copying the host assembly into the addin directory along with the addin assembly. Works well now. This exception is understandable but it could be a little more specific.

I have an application using Mono.Addins but I'm having trouble
creating instances of the extension points. The addin itself is being
detected and loading fine, but when I try to create an instance from
an extension node, I get an exception stating that I can't perform the
conversion. I've pasted the relevant code below.

From host addin file:

Adding a full blown Add-In

We provide an Add-In for Microsoft Visual Studio it has Windows and
tabs and all kinds of stuff, here is what it looks like

that ... ;)

Anyway, it is possible to have a full blown add in like this, I've
been looking at your doc's and I cannot see any examples of something
like this ..
