ANNOUNCE: Tomboy 0.15.6 Released (development release)

Hi folks,

This email is to announce Tomboy 0.15.6, the seventh development release
on the road to Tomboy 1.0, which will coincide with GNOME 2.28.

Users and distributors take note: In this release, notes and
configuration data have moved. Previously notes, user-installed
add-ins, temporary files, and various configuration data was all
stored in ~/.tomboy on Linux, %APPDATA%\tomboy on Windows, and
~/.config/tomboy on Mac. This has all changed now. Here is where
Tomboy data will live from now on:

    Linux, etc (Free Desktop standards)
    --
    Notes: ~/.local/share/tomboy/
    Configuration and add-ins: ~/.config/tomboy/
    Caches: ~/.cache/tomboy/
    Log: ~/.config/tomboy/tomboy.log

    Mac OS X
    --
    Notes: ~/Library/Application Support/Tomboy/
    Configuration and add-ins: ~/Library/Preferences/Tomboy/
    Caches: ~/Library/Caches/Tomboy/
    Log: ~/Library/Logs/Tomboy/tomboy.log

    Windows
    --
    Notes: %APPDATA%\Tomboy\notes\
    Configuration and add-ins: %APPDATA%\Tomboy\config\
    Caches: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tomboy\cache\
    Log: %LOCALAPPDATA%\Tomboy\tomboy.log

Distributors: The user is not notified of this migration, since the
vast majority of Tomboy users were unaware of the existence of
~/.tomboy in the first place. If for some reason you want your users
to know when this migration happens, there is some commented-out code
in NoteManager.cs that generates a note explaining the whole thing and
shows it to the user on their first run, when the migration occurs.
Otherwise, a simple text file will be created in the old note
directory for those users who pay attention to such things. There is
still time before our stable release to discuss this behavior.

Please report any issues you find in this migration process.

Tomboy is a simple personal note-taking application designed to be
unobtrusive and friendly, while supporting inter-note-links similar to
a WikiWikiWeb to help you organize your notes and ideas. It can run
either as a GNOME panel applet or a notification tray icon.

ANNOUNCE: Smuxi 0.6.4

I am happy to announce the 0.6.4 release of Smuxi. This release
contains important changes for supporting Windows and Mac OS X as it
no longer requires the GNOME# library. The SSH-support for the
communication between the server and the frontend is now official and
has been integrated into the GUI. This means Smuxi can safely be used
now with NAT and port-based firewalls. For a detailed list of changes,
please read the feature and bugfix list below.

Smuxi is available for download from:
http://www.smuxi.org/page/Download

c1b31d2a5199c53c3582fdc3131366ee  source/smuxi-0.6.4.tar.gz
c9ab0f7e9cceb96707cbda5cde4ba4de  binary/smuxi-0.6.4-1-bin.tar.gz
43e5f3e398b0bcfde18f05091466dad1  binary/smuxi-0.6.4-1-win32-setup.exe

What is it?
===========
Smuxi is an irssi-inspired, flexible, user-friendly and cross-platform
IRC client for advanced users, targeting the GNOME desktop.

The special feature of Smuxi is that it can be used like the typical
irssi+screen combo. The IRC session can run on a server (using
`smuxi-server') and a frontend (like `smuxi-frontend-gnome') then can
connect to that. The frontend can then be detached and re-attached at
some later point without losing any IRC connections or messages.

The project website can be found at:
http://www.smuxi.org/

What's New?
===========
New features:
    * Feature #1: support (clickable) URLs in topic
    * Feature #15: add date stamps between days like irssi
    * Feature #28: support mIRC colors in topic
    * Feature #63: replace GNOME# API calls with GTK# API
    * Feature #64: Remove dependency on TCP ports for 2-way
      communication (passive mode)

Bugfixes:
    * Bug #129: configuration error dialog [win32]
    * Bug #145: SSH tunnel setup failed: Bad configuration option:
      ExitOnForwardFailure
    * Bug #148: SSH tunnel is not killed when quitting Smuxi
    * Bug #150: Connecting to smuxi-server fails via SSH when using
      passwords
    * Bug #151: configure should check for nini.pc
    * Bug #158: Minimises when switching workspace
    * Bug #159: Cannot restore from notification icon
    * Bug #160: smuxi crashes when opening an URL which GNOME can't
      handle
    * Bug #163: bad network connection causes random nicks to be used
    * Bug #164: TaskQueue might leak resources
    * Bug #169: Crashed with Smuxi.Frontend.Gnome.Entry -
      System.InvalidOperationException: out of sync
    * Bug #183: Leaking FrontendManager threads
    * Bug #184: InvalidOperationException when adding an existing server
    * Bug #185: Output area is not showing own messages (with GTK+ 2.17)
    * Bug #187: Changing nick to an existing one will result in a
      fallback nick

Updated translations:
    * German translation
    * Spanish translation updated by Streinleght Rivenlock
    * British translation updated by Ryan Smith-Evans

24 August 2009

Hello!

We are please to announce the release of The Open Toolkit 0.9.9.

The Open Toolkit is a set of advanced, free, cross-platform bindings to
OpenGL, OpenCL and OpenAL. It is the spiritual successor to the Tao
Framework and attempts to fix several long-standing issues of the Tao
API.

New features in OpenTK 0.9.9:

* Support for the OpenCL 1.0 'flat' API.
* Improved GameWindow API.

Other major features:

* Full OpenGL 3.1 support with automatic extension loading.
* Full OpenAL 1.1 support.
* Cross-platform GLControl for Windows.Forms integration.
* Cross-platform GameWindow (invokes native APIs, improved performance
over GLControl).
* GTK# integration through GLWidget (external add-on).
* Joystick support on Linux and Windows.
* Math library with Vector, Quaternion, Matrix and Bezier structs.
* OpenGL text printing through GDI+.
* Fully managed, with 32- and 64bit support.

Full release notes: http://www.opentk.com/node/963
Binaries and source code:

ANNOUNCE: Tomboy 0.15.1 Released (development release)

Hi folks,

This email is to announce Tomboy 0.15.1, the second development release
on the road to Tomboy 1.0, which will coincide with GNOME 2.28.

Packagers take note: Tomboy now requires Mono 1.9.1 or later in order
to build. Its runtime requirement has not yet changed, so it should
still run on older versions of Mono.

Tomboy 0.15.1 includes a preview of support for synchronization with
the upcoming Tomboy Online web service. Synchronization is done via
our new REST API [0]. We will announce as soon as we have a demo
server online for users to try. For now, feel free to set up Snowy
[1] (the software behind Tomboy Online) on your own system [2] and
help us improve it! You can expect more detailed announcements about
Snowy and Tomboy Online in developer blogs [3] and on the Tomboy
mailing list.

Tomboy is a simple personal note-taking application designed to be
unobtrusive and friendly, while supporting inter-note-links similar to
a WikiWikiWeb to help you organize your notes and ideas. It can run
either as a GNOME panel applet or a notification tray icon.

Tomboy's Website:http://www.gnome.org/projects/tomboy

Tomboy's Wiki:http://live.gnome.org/Tomboy
  * Road Map:http://live.gnome.org/Tomboy/RoadMap
  * Brainstorming:http://live.gnome.org/Tomboy/PlaceForNewIdeas

Tomboy is available at:

Some tentative plans for the next release cycle include:
* Automatic synchronization
* Faster startup, less memory usage (we've only just begun!)
* Better OS X experience
* Brainstorming for how Tomboy should fit into gnome-shell
* A new project to have easy synchronization to a Tomboy online service!
* Tomdroid, and how to have the best sync story to have Tomboy notes on your G1
* Tomboy website revamp
* Your awesome ideas!

But we haven't had our roadmap meeting yet, so we'll see what the community
decides during this public meeting [0] on Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at

Big Thank You
helping to make Tomboy better!

Hello folks,

    I wanted to share with everyone on the lists a very important
announcement from Telerik, the creators of RadControls for ASP.NET.

    As of today Telerik is making RadControls for ASP.NET available and
supported for Linux users using Mono 2.4 on their systems. Third-party
controls is one of the most requested features that we hear from our
community and Telerik is the first major vendor to offer their tools for
Mono users.

    You do need Mono 2.4 as it contains many bug fixes and new APIs that
Telerik consumes that are required to run RadControls with Mono.

    Telerik's announcement is here:

http://www.telerik.com/company/press-center/company-news/telerik-announces-support-for-mono.aspx

    My blog on the subject is here:

ANNOUNCE: Mono Accessibility 1.0 Released!

Hey,

The Mono Accessibility team is proud to announce the latest release of Mono Accessibility 1.0.

The Mono Accessibility project enables many Windows applications to be fully accessible on Linux. Applications based upon System.Windows.Forms can take advantage of this with no extra code, and enjoy the same level of Accessibility provided by Windows on any system Mono supports.

The 1.0 release brings full accessibility support for all System.Windows.Forms controls, and a corresponding bridge that will allow AT-SPI-based assistive technologies like Orca and GOK to access applications that use Mono's System.Windows.Forms implementation.

For further details, check out our Release Notes[1] and our homepage[2].

Cheers,

-Brad

Hi,
    Beagle and libbeagle 0.3.9 is now available. Besides lots of bug
fixes, this release fixes a major problem with mono-2 where temporary
files would not be deleted.

THE SHORT OF IT
---------------
Beagle is a Linux desktop-independent service which transparently and
unobtrusively indexes your data in real-time.

To download the 0.3.8 release or learn more about Beagle, visit
the Beagle web page:
http://beagle-project.org

Beagle supports many different data sources and file formats. For a
complete listing, visit:
http://beagle-project.org/Supported_Filetypes

Beagle includes an optional GNOME-based graphical tool and a browser
interface for searching its indexes.

To learn more about Beagle, visit:
http://beagle-project.org/About

IMPORTANT CHANGES for beagle between 0.3.8 and 0.3.9

* Fix build problems with Gnome.Vfs.MimeApplication
before the [Desktop Entry] group.

* Fixes #564460 - clean up GLib and GTK+ includes.

Contributors to this release: Debajyoti Bera, Lukas Lipka, Adrian
Bunk, Tal Benavidor.

IMPORTANT CHANGES for libbeagle between 0.3.5.1 and 0.3.9
--------------------------------------------------------------------

* Add version information to the python bindings: beagle.__version__
for package and beagle.__lib_version__ for library version.

* Remove warnings with -Wstrict-prototypes.

* Bump API revision to 3.

Contributors to this release: Debajyoti Bera, Arun Raghavan.

Full set of changes:
http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/beagle/tags/BEAGLE_0_3_9/beagle/ChangeLog?view=markup
http://svn.gnome.org/viewvc/beagle/tags/BEAGLE_0_3_9/libbeagle/ChangeLog?view=markup

KNOWN ISSUES
------------------------

* If you use any torrent client or any other p2p application, add its download
directory to the excluded directory list of beagled. Sometimes beagle can take
a long time to parse partially downloaded files.

* Need evolution-sharp >=0.18.1 for evolution >= 2.24.0

Enjoy,
- dBera

ANNOUNCE: Smuxi 0.6.3

Just in time, with the beginning of 2009 we are proud to announce the
release of Smuxi 0.6.3! This release is the 3rd bugfix release of the
0.6 series but also contains as usual new features for your joy of
upgrading to the new version.

Smuxi is available for download from:
http://www.smuxi.org/page/Download

d383fd0d1f1ff3028e39b7306926ed06  smuxi-0.6.3.tar.gz
68389fa654ae1ff6eefcfde5d366f422  smuxi-0.6.3-bin.tar.gz
bb97a96aa2559b403b15c4d35cd1c464  smuxi-0.6.3-bin-win32.zip

What is it?
===========

What's New?
===========
New features:
    * Full tray icon support. (trac#55 and trac#137)
    * Configurable line wrapping. (trac#5)
    * Events such as join/part/quit now use a different color in the
      tab label. (trac#66)
    * When connecting to a smuxi-server previous highlights will not be
      highlighted again. (trac#97)
    * Messages can now be sent to all chats by using
      the /amsg, /anotice and /ame commands. (trac#109)
    * The find group chats feature now indicates an active search by
      using a busy mouse cursor symbol. (trac#115)
    * Passwords are now hidden by default but can be shown by using a
      "show password" button. (trac#116)
    * Nicknames can now be listed by using the /names command.
      (trac#120)

Bugfixes:
    * Find group chat dialog will no longer freeze the interface when
      the IRC server (e.g. OFTC) uses non-RFC compliant reply codes.
      (trac#104)
    * /notice #somechannel will no longer crash. (trac#108)
    * A private notice will no longer trigger a highlight. (trac#45)
    * URLs can now be clicked while a nickname is selected on the
      userlist. (trac#112)
    * Server no longer crashes when a frontend doesn't cleanly
      disconnect. (trac#117)
    * Quitting smuxi using the window close button (X) will now store
      the last used window size and position. (trac#121)
    * Validation now requires a nickname be set in the preferences.
      (trac#123)
    * URL matching is now case-insensitive. (trac#131)
    * /quit command will no longer reconnect. (trac#139)
    * Username and password are now correctly used in the quick connect
      dialog. (trac#141)
    * When disconnecting from a server, all chats will now be closed.
      (trac#144)

New translations:
    * French translation contributed by Clement BOURGEOIS (trac#113)
    * Italian translation contributed by David Paleino
    * Spanish translation contributed by Juan Miguel Carrero

As you can see, we have applied lots of love to this release :-D Now
head to the download page and enjoy this great new version!

There are now also packages available for openSUSE (thanks to Andrew
Jorgensen) and Ubuntu (thanks to Stefan Ebner). The download page
contains explanations how to install those.

ANNOUNCE: Tasque 0.1.8 Released (Development Release)

Hi Everybody,

Tasque 0.1.8 has been released. This release fixes a ton of bugs and
adds some nice new features. Notably, Remember The Milk should work
again, and you can download Tasque for Windows and Mac OS X (we're
calling these "alpha quality" for now until they receive more testing,
so file bugs please!).

Tasque on Mac OS X requires Mono, which can be downloaded from the Mono
website [1].
Tasque on Windows requires GTK# 2.10 or greater. I recommend Novell's
installers [2], though they may need some tweaking [3] to work correctly.

You may experience problems with the EDS backend. We are aware of them,
and are working on fixes to evolution-sharp.

What is it?
===========
Tasque is a simple task management app (TODO list) for the Linux Desktop.

What's new?
===========
Version 0.1.8
* Initial support for Windows and Mac OS X. Please try, and file bugs!
* Update Remember The Milk backend to work with latest rememberthemilk.com.
* SQLite backend improvements, Andreia Gaita, Stefan Schlott and Steve
Frécinaux.
* Much improved DBus interface, Alex Launi and Thomas Van Machelen.
* Better info in status bar, including cool countdown when completing tasks.
* Experimental new Hiveminder backend, Johnny Jacob.
* Better GTK+ theme compliance, Guillaume Beland and Joel Bennett.
* Add --quiet command line option to start with window hidden, Charles
Schaefer.
* Add --debug, --trace, and --profile command line options.
* Several crash fixes.
* Other contributors to this release: Andrew Conkling, Dmitry Radkovsky,
   Geert van Dijk, James Westby, Johannes, Joseph Method, Loganathan
Subramaniam,
   Mark A. Nicolosi, Romain Tartière, steve evolvedlight co uk.
> Hi,
>
> I think the new preview is able to correctly locate platform in Mac
> (before mono "thought" it was Unix) and now NAnt fails:
>
> NAnt currently does not support this platform (MacOSX, ID = 6).
This should be fixed in Mono 2.2 RC1 which we just released.

Please try it again, and if it doesn't work, please file a bug and reply
to this e-mail with the bug number.

Thanks!
Thomas

Hey Everyone,

We've just released Mono 2.2 RC1 today!

Please help us out by giving it a try with your applications.

As always, you can get the preview/RC releases here:
http://mono.ximian.com/monobuild/preview/download-preview/

Please report any bugs that you may find using our Bugs page, AND reply
to this thread with the bug numbers so we can track them:
http://www.mono-project.com/Bugs

You can see the bugs we're tracking for Mono 2.2 here:
https://bugzilla.novell.com/buglist.cgi?query_format=advanced&classification=Mono&target_milestone=2.2.x&order=bugs.bug_status

The earlier you file the bugs and reply to this message, the more likely
your bugs will get fixed.

Special attention is given to regressions, so if you can tell us a
version of Mono where the bug worked and you tag the summary of the bug
with [Regression], then it is much more likely your bug will get fixed.

Please help the Mono team to make 2.2 the best ever.

Thanks!

Mono QA
