Monodevelop external console doesn't show up

I have Monodevelop version 2.0, Mono 2.4.
When i compile and start a console application with External Console option active it opens no console... what i have to do?

The external console only shows up when you run, not when you build.

If it's not showing up when you run, what's your desktop environment?
Are there any errors? Anything in the MD log?

I edited the message, adding "and start" but it seems that you didn't receive it..
Anyway i'm using Gnome, i just found that if i start monodevelop from a terminal it will use that for the external console, otherwise if i start it from the menu no console appears.
Where i can find MD log?
And.. external console is able to get input (i really need this..).

If MD detects from the environment that you are using Gnome-Terminal
it uses that, else it uses xterm. Do you have these both installed? Is
there anything in the MD log in ~/.config/MonoDevelop/log?
