The bug producing bad "make check" results in
dejagnu-1.4.4.tar.gz should not have been in the release file.
Responsible releases should compile, not abend with errors, and after
compilation they should "make check" without a lot of errors. If you
have a good installation of GNU make, GNU m4, very recent autogen,
autoconf and automake, a recent GCC, good current tcl, tk and expect,
your dejagnu source should compile and test with no compile errors and
few "make check" errors. It's a mature program that should not have
problems.
But when you compile and test your dejagnu tarball, you find that it tests awfully. The scripts and maybe the makefiles of it need debugging. It previously worked.
