Most stable nightly build

Hi

I have finally got my mpvmc working with Mythbuntu 9.04. It is working, but not totally stable (sometimes soft reboots, sound sync problems, sometimes leaves the progress bar on screen after tuning etc)

I realise from reading the forums that I cannot expect 100% stability - but is there a particular build variant that gives best stability (including live TV) - or is it generally best to take the latest version available.

Thanks

TC

My mvpmcs are very stable.  I only use them for mythtv and some avi playback via the filesystem and VLC.  I sometime have issue with VLC and sound sync.

What part is unstable?  Some debugs might assist with finding the issue for you.

Hi

Thanks for reply. Main issues are:
1 - Very slow program guide (ok, not stability, but usability)
2 - Sound sync on recordings and also live tv - live tv can be fixed by channel up / channel down.
3 - so far one recording has shown severe stuttering - others seem ok
4 - sometimes there are soft re-boots. (Like power up from remote).
5 - sometimes when trying to play recordings I just get a blank screen. I can try again successfully with the same recording
6 - once so far the progress bar has has remained on screen while showing live tv.

For this one, check out this thread:
http://www.nabble.com/A-V-sync-deteriorating-td18435104s24861.html

where I described similar symptoms and remedied them by using a
particular nightly build. You might want to try the build I mention in
that thread and see if it helps.

See also this recent thread:
http://www.nabble.com/mvpmc-release--tc24239550s24861.html

where the topic came up again.

If you do confirm that the older nightly solves the sync problem, one of
us should follow through on providing Michael Drons with the info he
requested when he offered to fix the problem. (I have this on my todo
list, but have been busy with other stuff.)

Do you have a lot (500-1000+) recordings on your Myth backend? My reason for abandoning mvpmc was that it simply ran out of memory or was trying to download the entire list of recordings all the time, and since I have a lot of recordings on my backend it choked.

Maybe this has been fixed, anyonw know?

/ Niklas

This is a problem in my household as well.  We currently have about
1083 recordings in mythtv.  We're using the 20090621 build of mvpmc.
