Motorcycling in SwitzerlandSaw this poster <http://michaelj.smugmug.com/photos/600718874_qpqfa-L.jpg> in
s Swiss motorcycle shop while I was having my front brake pads replaced (Switzerland is NOT the place you want to be with no front brakes) The basic translation is: Class "A" license: Up to 125cc Over 16 years old - 50cc Over 18 years old - 125cc 11kW max No speed restrictions 8 hours of observed riding Written and riding tests Class A1 license: Over 125cc Over 18 years old - 25kW & .16kW/kg Over 25 years old - No restrictions No speed restrictions 12 hours of observed riding Written and riding tests What I find especially interesting for the A1 license is the inclusion of a HP/Weight ratio limit for riders under 25 in addition to a HP limit - so no ultra light screamers allowed. -- Michael J. Instructor/inspector as passenger in a car with a radio link to the student rider following (who is wearing a reflective belt with the word "FAHRSCHULE" printed on it. I didn't say it was cheap. -- Michael J.
