Moving photos aroundHello,
Brand new to this list. Just joined. Please be kind to my seemingly ridiculous questions. I have read the Gwenview handbook (several times) and read everything I could find on line. I understand the concepts but not the "how do Ido it" I am trying to build a slide show presentation of a recent vaacation trip and I need to move several photos to a different location. I can grab a photo and move it to where I want it but when I click on the "Move here" box I get a message that asks me,"Do you want to replace the picture on the left with the one on the right?" So I cancel. Don't want to replace it, want to insert it between them. What am I doing wrong? Bob S ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us! If it is the case then it's unfortunately not possible with Gwenview because it cannot reorder pictures: it always sort them by name, date or size. "Moving" for Gwenview means moving the picture file from one folder to another. If you are moving pictures from different folders to a common destination folder, then maybe it happens that pictures have the same name? For example if your structure is something like this: paris/pict0001.jpg pict0002.jpg ... lyon/pict0001.jpg pict0002.jpg ... And you want to have all of them in a "slideshow/" folder, when you move paris/pict0001.jpg to slideshow/ everything is ok, but when you then try to move lyon/pict0001.jpg to slideshow/ it will complain that there is already a picture named pict0001.jpg in slideshow/. In this case all you have to do is rename the second picture to something unique. If I am not mistaken the message box you are talking about provides a "Rename" button which automatically suggest a unique name. You then play the slide-show from the folder full of links. You can also place two links to the same photo if you wish to repeat. Just an idea... > --------------------------------------------------------------------------- >--- Come build with us! If that is so what is this "dock" and "undock" feature do. It does seem to move a photo. After what you said below I got brave and tried it and as long as it was renamed it didn't seem to overwrite the other photos on either side of it. I then reloaded the page and ran the slide show again and everything seems to be where it should be. > If you are moving pictures from different folders to a common > destination folder, then maybe it happens that pictures have the same > name? We will see and I will experiment some more. Bob S ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Come build with us!
