Moving printing to a plugin-based system

Now that exporters and importers are reimplemented as plugins, I'm thinking the last obvious candidate for plugin-ification is our printing system. However, as I tried to lay out the design for this, things started to get complicated... witness: http://grecipe-manager.wiki.sourceforge.net/Printer+Plugin+Design

This leads me to think we should keep the existing system and work on implementing printing with the new gtkprinting backend.

The pdf_export plugin has a feature set that it would be nice to reproduce in a printing plugin, and that could be used as a model. It would be even nicer if we could just use the reportlab code and hand the GTK printing backend a PDF to print, but I don't believe this is possible.

Anyone have any thoughts on this? Anyone interested in taking this on?

Tom
