Multiple email addressesI am sure that a suggestion for a new feature is the last thing you guys need :), but here is one anyway: I find myself using different email addresses depending on the mailing list where I post. Since Nabble only knows about one of those addresses, I can't view all my messages when I go to the Your Account > Messages Posted page. All this to say that it would be nice to be able to link multiple email addresses to a single Nabble account.

Re: Multiple email addressesThanks for your feedback. A few other users have also asked for this feature, so your request just pushed this feature to an even higher priority. We will do this feature soon. I cannot give a definite time because of the upcoming thanksgiving and core members taking a break, but I think probably this can get done in a month. We will notify you and the other requesters when this is released.

Re: Multiple email addressesHi Franklin,
Very nice! Under "Edit Profile", under "Change E-mail", would it make sense to also add the ability to add/remove other addresses there? Right now, to add a new email, we need to register again with that other email, and use "Link Multiple Accounts". This is quite a few steps to just add another email address. Re: Multiple email addressesWhat does the "Link Multiple Accounts" do exactly? I went through the procedure and linked another account. When posting a new message in a forum, I expected to have a new drop down where I could select which email I wanted to use for that message (kind of what you have in Gmail when you have multiple emails linked to the same account).

Re: Multiple email addressesI thought the main reason people wanted this was to link multiple email addresses that they use on mailing lists. In that case, we already have an unregistered account set up for those email addresses. When you register, you just take possession of that account. Then you can link them. I don't see much point in adding email addresses that aren't already in our system.

Re: Multiple email addressesWhat this feature currently does is, if you link account A to account B, then all posts from A get assigned to B. This is useful if you send email to different lists using different email addresses and then want to login to Nabble to see them all.
Maybe I really don't understand what is needed here, so please help me understand. If you use Nabble to post, why not just register to all mailing lists that you use with your Nabble email address? Franklin Schmidt Nabble.com |

Re: Multiple email addressesPeople have multiple addresses for a reason. Maybe they have a work email and a personal email. Depending on where they post, they would like to use a different email address. Consider: on Yahoo! or Google, there is no concept of linking accounts. But there is a concept of having multiple emails for the same account. Then, everywhere an email is used, you can choose which one of the emails you have linked to the account you want to use. And I think this makes sense. Alex |

Re: Multiple email addressesOkay, I will add a drop-down listing email addresses of linked accounts.

Re: Multiple email addressesThat would be great! Thank you, Alex |

Re: Multiple email addressesOne more question. For any given mailing list, would you want to use more than one email address? In other words, should I let you associate an email address with each individual message, or should I give you a way to associate an email address with each mailing list?

Re: Multiple email addressesI am using account A, and linked account B to A. While logged in as A, when I post messages, they get sent from my B email instead of my A email. Is this intentional, or is it a bug? Since I am logged in as A, I would expect my A email to be used. Of course, in the long run, the best is to give the user a choice of which email to use. And I think you want to default to the email of the account the user is currently logged on with. Alex -- Orbeon Forms - Web Forms for the Enterprise, Done the Right Way http://www.orbeon.com/ |

Re: Multiple email addressesHi Frank, I am only using one email per list. I can't really think of use cases where one would frequently post from 2 different emails in the same list. As far as I am concerned, I'll be perfectly happy if I can tell Nabble what email I am using for which list. But a simple drop down with all the emails linked to the current account at the top of the reply/compose pages would work as well.
