Hi all. Percha Dam State Park in Sierra Co. had one bird worth mentioning today, an Empidonax with a song very similar to Yellow-bellied and a pip similar to Acadian Flycatcher. I have put up a video on Flickr containing examples of the song and pip notes. The bird went virtually the whole day without being seen except for a short video clip when it was piping. The video doesn't show much in the way of id marks on the bird (see at the end of the video). Others (Jimmy & Marcy Zabriskie and Matt Baumann) got to hear the bird sing, but were also unsuccessful in actually seeing it. I plan on going back down to Percha in the morning to try to get decent views/photos if it is still around.
