NSLU2 Debian install failure

I am having trouble installing Debian Lenny on my NSLU2. All goes well up to the point of installing the kernel. It aborts with an error. The log is below. I have tried this now 4 times.

I am installing in "low memory" mode. Perhaps I am doing something wrong. There is a 250GB drive attached and it did partition and format it. I can go out to a shell and look at the drive.

Can I reboot the NSLU2 in this state? It warns that it could be a problem in this partially updated state. When I first booted the NSLU2 the drive was not attached. It does see it however. In perusing the net for info I did find another person that had the same problem. An ideas?

An error was returned while trying to install the kernel into the target system. â

Why don't you try Ubuntu for slug? Get the guide here https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/NSLU2

No trouble at all so far.

Ok replying to my own post to give an update.

Another thread I saw with this problem talked about trying 13 times to finally get it installed, so I thought that I had better be patient. Patience payed off, on about the 6th try it successfully installed. I did nothing different, so not sure what it was. Perhaps it is a network or Debian fileserver issue. This is not specifically seen in the log though. Maybe someone can explain it.

So working fine now.  For anyone that is having this problem I would recommend going through the install many times before giving up.

Doug
