Need a pair of hands near Orlando / Winter Park (FL)Hi,
A friend of mine, needs a pair of hands to help him out repairing some devices. This devices have one QSOP MAX1672 (16 pin SMD) that were blown because it was not soldered properly. Since I'm in Argentina and I can't go to Florida, we are looking for someone over there to help us out. He will be paid, off course. The job is rather simple. It consists of removing the current chip and soldering the new one in place. A 20mm wire should be soldered to one of its pins, to provide a bigger ground path, since the original trace in the board is not thick enough. It took me 5 to 7 minutes to do all that and verify that it was working (place a 9V battery and press ON). It would be appreciated that you have experience re-working SMT boards and a solder station to work with. Anyone who wants the job, please send me a personal email to the address below. There are 23 units to repair. Thanks Saludos, info@... Around here (eastern Massachusetts, southern New Hampshire area) there are a surprisingly large number of small to medium contract manufacturers that are happy to do small volume hand rework like that. There probably are a bunch in the Orlando FL area too. Tell your friend to ask around with people that are in the electronics manufacturing business. He'll probably be surprised how many companies there are right under his nose. Unfortunately these outfits are not easy to find thru the normal means like a Google search. All the ones I know in my area I've bumped into by word of mouth. If he's willing to ship out all the boards to get them reworked, I can recommend a few places up here. However, it would be a good idea for him to get acquainted with the small contract manufacturers in his area anyway. ******************************************************************** Embed Inc, Littleton Massachusetts, http://www.embedinc.com/products (978) 742-9014. RE: Need a pair of hands near Orlando / Winter Park (FL)Thanks Olin. It would be difficult for my friend (being the way he is) to
find such contract manufacturers in his area. He's not in the electronic bussines nor near it. That is why I was asking around in the piclist. In case no one appears, I might ask you for a reliable contact and he'll ship the units no MA. Re: Need a pair of hands near Orlando / Winter Park (FL)Apparently there will be many experts in the area soon:
The 4th International Brazing & Soldering Conference (IBSC) will take place at Hilton in the Walt Disney World Resort, Orlando, Florida, USA between April 26 -29, 2009.
