Re: Need to create a contact directoryHi Atul,
Thanks for your interest in sharing the contact details of this group. And I wonder what purpose that would serve ? This is a unmoderated group and member's are free to post almost anything the like. No one is stopping them here. Individual Members are free to share with you as much details about themselves as they like. But the owners/moderators of this group must not share all those contact details without member's consent. That would be unethical and invasion of privacy. Re: Need to create a contact directoryHi Siddharth,
I suppose you forgot to mention the relevant section of the Act for seeking exemption from information I have copy pasted below at the end of this post the relevant section for your as well as the Dear Moderator's (who happens to be the PIO for this Yahoo Group) immediate reference [?] I suppose quite a few members like Dear Atul himself has done, do give their contact information at the end of their post. I appreciate Atul's idea to compile a directory where the contact information of all such members (who proactively disclose their contact information at the end of their post) is available at one place. Sec. 11. (1) Where a Central Public Information Officer or a State Public > Information Officer, as the case may be, intends to disclose any information > or record, or part thereof on a request made under this Act, which relates > to or has been supplied by a third party and has been treated as > confidential by that third party, the Central Public Information Officer or > State Public Information Officer, as the case may be, shall, within five > days from the receipt of the request, give a written notice to such third > party of the request and of the fact that the Central Public Information > Officer or State Public Information Officer, as the case may be, *intends > to disclose the information or record, or part thereof, and invite the third > party to make a submission* in writing or orally, regarding whether the > information should be disclosed, and such submission of the third party > shall be kept in view while taking a decision about disclosure of > information: Warm Regards, Sunil. Re: Need to create a contact directoryHi Sunil,
- I am obviously responding to the Notice u/s 11 (1) served to me by the PIO of this PA. Let the PIO decides whether such open disclosure of en masse data on members of this group is in larger public interest or not. - I cannot invoke exemption clause myself. It's the PIO's job. - Additionally whether to create a database and publicly share the same comes under PA's domain u/s 4. PIO can only share pre-existing data. PIO cannot create information. - Somewhere I also read that this group too encourages anonymous and pseudonymous membership. So much of the data available could be quite useless or redundant. - And what more information is necessary. Don't you think Name/email/telephone is enough. - Yahoo Group offers an online form and database creation option. The same can be used to collect, compile, share information about members (Voluntarily, of course) N.B. If Atul wants to collect and compile a database then it's ok with me personally. I cannot say about other's though.
