Pls help me with a solution to resolve these netbeans IDE problem

Hi,

It's so tough to even reach this emal so I hope someone can help me with these error messages from netbeans IDE. I have already wasted 8 hours just to get here so any help is greatly appreciate.

NB 6.7.1 always asks to register on startup

Hi guys, whenever I start NB 6.7.1 it on Vista it keeps asking me to register, though I already have.

Question Regarding Autocompletion of XML Schema elements

I have just recently begun using XML Schema, and I am trying to get my head around the whole namespace issue. I am embarrassed to even ask this question, but here it goes:

a namespace is comparable to a java package, correct? in the sense that a package is a location for a collection of classes, and two different packages can have a class with the same name. is this understanding correct? if so, then how does the netbeans XML editor perform autocompletion by providing the correct namespace, since the namespace is nothing more than a URI to a webpage. What about this particular URI informs the editor that the Schema elements, such as complexType and simpleType an so on, exist in this namespace?

I have created a schema, and its instance, and if the schemalocation attribute is correctly set, then the editor performs autocompletion, but in this case, i provide a schema document, so why does the schema editor provide autocompletion from just a URI? Does it have to do with a template in the editor, that is matched to this URI?

any help about this topic would be appreciated...it would go along way toward my understanding of what a namespace really is, since I plan on making my graduation project in the semantic web, rdf and ontologies, and i need to understand XML and thus namespaces very well...

Ah, yes, but that means that ALL languages end up formatted at 2 characters, I only want to change HTML file tab-stops to 2 characters while keeping all other languages at 4.

For the moment I have set the default to two and set java to 4, but now anything other than a java file gets formatted at 2 character tab stops.

Brett,

invoke "Tools > Options" from the main menu and switch to "Editor" tab. See attachment. Besides, please be aware of defect #143940 [1] about not working indentation in CSS files. And of course if something does not work, submit it against html/editor [2].

Hi,

I'm following a tutorial, and somehow when I select the Run button, the UI elements simply do not show up.

You may note that I have added the following method manually:

Is this a bug?

Any ideas? Has anyone encountered similar issues?

Hi Vaclav, what's the name you used to replace TYPE? It needs to appear in the project properties file instead of TYPE, also is your license file-name in the form of license-TYPE.txt?

Just a test, try setting your project.license in the project properties to one of the existing templates (like apache20).

Another that's pretty annoying is FORMAT
- PC: ALT+SHIFT+F
- MAC: CTRL+SHIFT+F

For the mac, that I find is actually hard to press.

Keyboard shortcuts between Mac and PC

Hi, I work on PC at work and Mac at home, I'm constantly battling with
having the shortcut key differences between mac and PC, the biggest
problems I'm having are:

Insertion Point to Previous|Next Word
- PC: CTRL+<LEFT|RIGHT>
- MAC: ALT+<LEFT|RIGHT>

Fix Imports
- MAC: APPLE+SHIFT+I
- PC: CTRL+SHIFT+I

The other one that's driving me insane is probably a Mac thing that I
don't know how to change
- MAC: HOME|END - Move to start/end of document
- PC: HOME|END - Move to start/end of line

How do you even move to the start/end of a line on a mac?

If anyone knows a workaround to this please let me know, even if you
have a set of recommended key mappings will do for me.

Thanks for trying to grok my complex question ...

Here's the crux of the question:
What would you expect to happen when you close the TC (or the tab within
the TC) hosting a shell?

a) you expect it to terminate the shell and go away w/o ability to
re-open the window.
b) you expect it to close the window which you can bring back up again
later.

If you expect (b) then we have a problem because the only way to bring
(accidentally
closed) io windows back up is via the progress bar. But that forces you to
see a progress bar for a shell which we seem to agree is undesirable.

I don't really see the correlation. I don't see I/O and Progress as being linked. They can be, but they are not meant to always be used in a tandem fashion.

I would think there may be some actions one runs from the shell which show up as progress actions, but I would not expect a shell window itself to show up as a progress icon, and I'm failing to see how that is necessary as those APIs are completely separate things.

From the other view point. It is an IOProvider. So, it provides input and output. It seems to make a lot of sense for that area to be used for a shell.

That said, just that general area, the bottom right where tasks, search results, and IO reside, is a good place for another TC to hold a shell of some kind. This can completely detach from the I/O and becomes its own TC in that general area which seems like a good place for a shell/command window as it resides under the editor and other things as is common in other environments and editors.

For example, if you use the Progress UI and Cancel something, or use the
Stop

Feature request: Add option to bypass upload confirmation

Whenever a user "Runs Project" with a remote server configuration,
there is a dialog confirming which files will be uploaded - and it can
be closed with "Return" even though the OK button is highlighted
( which I'll submit as a bug). I've found that in my workflow, I
usually don't care about this info.

It seems that an option either per project or per configuration to
bypass this dialog and have the files uploaded as soon as "Run" is
selected would prevent the user from having to take their hands off
the keyboard and fiddle with the mouse on every (often frequent) upload.

A useability/workflow issue with Grails supprt

Hi,

I was mucking around renaming groovy domain classes to work out why I was getting an error. And then i tried to (re)create a domain class with the same name as an old one. I may have done that the wrong way, but the result was that the modal dialog New Domain Class hung. The output window is waiting for confirmation of an over write for the test class. But I can't respond because of the modal dialog. Catch 22.

Hope the attached screen shot works as I am on Windoz and I produced it with Word (sorry) ...

I had the same problem. Solve it like this:

IPManagerApp: is the class that inherits from SingleFrameApplication.

You call the getApplication method and addExitListener whos behaivor is similar to window closing hopefully this help you

Maybe it is too late for me and I am too tired to understand, but I am
not sure what exactly are you asking for. Can you provide more details
about what you have already and what you want?
If you don't mind, then by the way, I would like to recommend you not
mixing application logic and GUI in one layer. For tiny applications
it works well, but if you do build something bigger than just an
example application, you will quickly become a beneficent of having
your application better designed.
Keep your 'bussiness logic' separated from GUI. For example: do not
mix code which actually check user credentials with the code which
creates and manages windows, buttons or text fields, and do not
reference any GUI code from within application logic code.

Web Services inside a Console app in NetBeans

Hi all and thanks for your precious work in developing NetBeans.

I'm writing to let you know of a feature I would like to see inside the
IDE, I actually don't know if it is hard to achieve or it's easy...
I would like to be able to add and edit a Web Service inside a simple
"Java Application Project" or inside a "Java Library Project".

I'm using NetBeans 6.5 beta, and I actually do obtain the same result by
manually adding Jax-WS and JaxB jars, add a simple Java class, and
manually annotating it with @WebService etc.
I do run the web Service inside Main of a console app by using
javax.xml.ws.Endpoint. However I do not get Web Service editing support
as I do get when I build a "Web Application Project"... (I can only add a
Web Service Client)

Oh, sorry about that, posting in the wrong forum.

Thanks for the answer though. I know what you mean about the navigator window, and I've tried it before but I can't change any components listed there. Or wait, I can rename them, but I can't remove them. It still says that I'm using the button groups though the only time they're mentione in the code is when I set them.

Delete them from the UI editor not the code editor. See the navigator window where you can remove them under other components. You can easily change variable names as well. Just right click on a component in either view...UI editor or the Navigator window, or click once on a name in the navigator window and click again but not too fast; double click adds the default event handler.
