Hi All,

I thought I'd post the latest with the 2.0.0 betas here:

http://www.kunstmusik.com/blue_2.0.0_beta.zip

It's still not officially a "beta" in that there are a few things to
implement (namely, I'm still working out the manual, as well as still
tweaking the look and feel), but I'll be going with beta from this
point on.  This does have a fix for bug 2864419 (multi-line
i-statements and f-statements for CSD import) amongst other things.

Continuing on and thanks as always to those providing feedback!

Dear Steven,

I'd like to join in to help and do some testing. I wonder if this new beta is suitable for Mac. Should I take it or should I wait until there is an easier install-process for Mac OSX?

All the best,

Jan Jacob

Hi Jan Jacob,

I have not had much time to continue work on the OSX build and the
computers I have access to I don't have Administrator priveleges on
which has complicated things.  However, the zip file does work on OSX.
You can run the blue\bin\blue file to start blue up.  It will not be
as nicely integrated as the OSX build should be, but that does not
differ much than what is in blue 0.125.0 so that should be fine.  I'd
love to get your feedback!

Thanks!

Dear Steven, dear list

i could not start the latest beta of blue on OSX. Doubleclicking on the blue script opens the usual dialog for unknown files asking with which programme I would like to open that file. As I did not know any, that could do that job I had to quit again. Any idea? Has anyone on the list managed to start blue 2 on mac?

I think you may be able to test this build with OSX by running the
blue\bin\blue script.  blue.exe in that bin directory should be used
for windows.

All the best,

Jan Jacob

Hi Jan Jacob,

What version of OSX are you using?  I only had a chance to try on Snow
Leopard.  Also, one thing you could try is renaming the blue script to
blue.cmd .

Thanks!

Hi Jan Jacob,
i'm on Mac OSX Snow Leopard (10.6).
For launch Blue 2, i use the terminal, go to the blue bin folder and make something like ./blue and blue start on my mac with no problem.

For Steven, it appears when i import a midifile, it's ok for importation but the score play to quick (very fast) but i'll test more and send a better bug report in few hours or day...

cheers

Dear Steven, dear list,

thanks for all the replies regarding my problem to start up blue on my MacOS machine. I use OSX 10.4 on an intel macbook. I tried to change the ending to blue.cmd but without result. I tried to change the programme to open that file to "Terminal", but in the list of suggested programmes "Terminal" is not active, so I could not set it to open that file regularly. Dragging and dropping the file onto the icon of Terminal did not work either. Then I dragged the file onto the Terminal window and dropped it. The path to the file appeared on the window. Then I pressed "return". Not blue, but an empty netbeans window appeared. Here is the output of the Terminal-window below, maybe someone can see, what I did wrong.

All the best,

Jan Jacob

Hi Jan Jacob,
i'm on Mac OSX Snow Leopard (10.6).
For launch Blue 2, i use the terminal, go to the blue bin folder and make something like ./blue and blue start on my mac with no problem.

For Steven, it appears when i import a midifile, it's ok for importation but the score play to quick (very fast) but i'll test more and send a better bug report in few hours or day...

cheers

Dear Steven, dear list

i could not start the latest beta of blue on OSX. Doubleclicking on the blue script opens the usual dialog for unknown files asking with which programme I would like to open that file. As I did not know any, that could do that job I had to quit again. Any idea? Has anyone on the list managed to start blue 2 on mac?

I think you may be able to test this build with OSX by running the
blue\bin\blue script.  blue.exe in that bin directory should be used
for windows.

All the best,

Jan Jacob

Hi Jan Jacob,

I have not had much time to continue work on the OSX build and the
computers I have access to I don't have Administrator priveleges on
which has complicated things.  However, the zip file does work on OSX.
You can run the blue\bin\blue file to start blue up.  It will not be
as nicely integrated as the OSX build should be, but that does not
differ much than what is in blue 0.125.0 so that should be fine.  I'd
love to get your feedback!

Thanks!

Dear Steven,

easier install-process for Mac OSX?

Hi All,
I thought I'd post the latest with the 2.0.0 betas here:
It's still not officially a "beta" in that there are a few things to
implement (namely, I'm still working out the manual, as well as still
tweaking the look and feel), but I'll be going with beta from this
point on.  This does have a fix for bug 2864419 (multi-line
i-statements and f-statements for CSD import) amongst other things.
Continuing on and thanks as always to those providing feedback!

Hi Jan Jacob,

Could you try unzipping the blue_2.0.0_beta.zip to
/Users/janjacobhofmann directory and try running it from there instead
of /Applications?  I wonder if there is an issue with permissions and
running it from there.

Otherwise, this is difficult for me to diagnose without access to a
10.4 machine.  Note: I just tried on a 10.5 machine by unzipping onto
the desktop and running ./blue in the blue/bin directory within a
command prompt and that worked.

Thanks!

Hello  Steven,

i'm using the beta version of 2 november but there is something definetly wrong here.
When i real-time render a thing that worked a week ago now i get no sound.  The output of Csound tells me it renders ok and '1760 4096-byte soundblks of shorts written to D:\csound\Output\adc5 (WAV)'. adc5? i want it to go to dac5. However i checked the WAV, thereś no .wav extension but it is a wav file nonetheless that sounds fine.
Checking the Blue Options portaudio is on  but for Audio Out i cannot see DAC, only ADC. And in the Midi Output - that is not activated- i seesome javacode, but not the midi port.
What can be the cause of this you think?

greetings
Menno

Hi Menno,

The MIDI output was a bug that I fixed. You should be able to delete
that text and save the options and it should save correctly now.

As for output options, I have reproduced the error here.  I'll take a
look at it shortly.  For the time being, you should be able to just
type in dac5.

Thanks for reporting!

Hi Menno,

I updated the build at http://www.kunstmusik.com/blue_2.0.0_beta.zip
that should fix up the issues with the Realtimer Render output
settings.

Thanks!

works Steven. Thanks for your quick repairs.
all my dacs and adc's are correctly detected now, as are the different midiports. At the moment i can not test the midiports but i will get back to you soon with another report.
Another thing that comes to mind right now is concerning the delicate balance that exists when wanting to use the dac AND the adc at the same time. There has to be some kind of right balance between ins and outs and the buffers size for csound to run smoothly? Maybe when the dac and adc are ticked in this window there could be created a list with advices of several buffersettings. I believe there is a formula for that somewhere in the csound manual. Well, just a quick random thought, antoher feature perhaps for Blue...

Hi Menno,

I rarely use dac and adc together so I'm not sure how to best
implement something like this.  If you and others can make a
recommendation with ideas for UI, I'll be happy to implement it.

Thanks!

Dear Steven,

now I can start blue! All I finally did is downloading the zip-fie
again. I noticed that the size of the file is slightly larger now. I
was able to start blue from terminal by command line. Now I can start
testing- looks great!

All the best,

Jan Jacob

Hi Steven

I've just installed the new beta and found out that the item list in Jmask is locked and can't be edited.

Thanks

Hi Algodo,

Thanks for notifying about this!  I think I have it fixed up.  I put
up a new build that should fix up issues with JMask's interface, has a
couple of small fixes, and now has the manual (it's the old manual for
0.125.0 but I got the build working for the HTML and PDF and have it
automated as part of the zip build now).

http://www.kunstmusik.com/blue_2.0.0_beta.zip

Thanks!
steven
