Hi everybody,

After upgrading my iPhone to the latest firmware (3.0) I read here and there that there is no way to get devices synced using linux anymore. It seems that Apple implemented a completely new coding and indexing bunch of file to manage ipod contents.

I read also that this new indexing method is used even in all the new ipod models and that, probably, it will became the default indexing method for the whole ipod family in just a couple of refresh.

What about libgpod and gtkpod tool?
Is the community planning to invest time and resources in the reverse-engineering of the new indexing method. Should expect long times and not so high possibilities of success?

I think that many people are interested in using their new ipods/iphones in linux, without underlying to Apple's tiranny.
What about a public post on this topic to explain where we are and where we are planning to go?
And also what hopes in terms of time and success should we have?

Many thanks for your work and good luck for the future.
