New Release?Hey guys -
I was just wondering if there were any plans to do another release anytime soon? The latest official (1.7) is getting awfully close to 2 years old at this point and I know there's a lot of bugfix goodness in the development builds. Just a thought... Re: New Release?Hey guys,
Once upon a time, Jesse and I agreed that once all EventLists provided access to values as well as indexes, we'd cut GL version 2.0. That was our goal. Then after a while, we made big progress on TreeList and decided that completion of ListEvent changes + TreeList would signal the time to cut 2.0. As it is now, TreeList is about 80% done. Jesse is really the best person to work on this stuff, but alas he really hasn't been able to make time for GL for a really, really long time. It's probably not going to get any better either... ListEvent changes are somewhat close to completion with only about 3 lists remaining to receive the deleted element, but unfortunately they're excruciatingly difficult to do. GroupingList, in particular, seems in dire need of a ground-up rewrite which would include the deleted elements. It has been a really long time, and there have been quite a few fixes that have accumulated. We might have to bite the bullet, release a 1.8 with the current code base, and start officially supporting our current build. It is really stable and I don't foresee any problems, it's just too bad that we're fading a bit on some of our original goals. Such is the ebb and flow of life I guess. I'll try to chat about a release with Jesse soon for you guys. James On Feb 9, 2008 1:24 PM, Holger Brands <hbrands@...> wrote: I would also appreciate a release in the near future. |
