Greetings all -
I just wanted to share some interesting info - Especially for those who have pipe combos -
As you know, I have been asking for advice on power up. Well, I went out and bought a dedicated computer just for jorgan. It's an e-machine EL 1600-01 with 19" lcd monitor. Total price tag $374.00 - 1 gb ram, 160gb hd.
After making backups, I started stripping programs that were un-needed. Just for ha-ha's, I went into the bios and was pleasently surprised.... Why?
In the bios under power management, there is a feature i've never seen before that allows you to have the machine re-boot automatically to the last state of the machine when power is cut. Also in the bios are options for how the power button is utilized.
So far, I have tested the power cut options and each time i restore power, the machine goes right back to whatever i was doing before without a hitch and in less than 30 seconds.
I will be putting Jorgan on the machine later this morning and when i have everything loaded including pipe drivers etc, I'll do more testing and let you know how it goes if interested.
I feel this info is extremely important for those who are looking for a 1 switch does all solution without rewiring the pc.
In my scenario: +9vdc is on a switch that feeds an ssr, (solid state relay), which in turn controls power on/off to 4 outlets. The blower, rectifier, computer and audio system are in those outlets. When the switch is thrown, everything should come up together. (vdc for switch can be any normal power supply 5-30vdc for these particular ssr's).
Will keep you posted on how things go as far as how cleanly this all works with regards to jorgan and how stable it may or may not be with this implimentation.
Best wishes -
Al
