New to this listHi all, I've been playing with Knoda for just a couple of days and was wondering if there is currently any way to use it in a similar fashion to MSAccess when it comes to network operation. In MSAccess you can use two different .mdb files, one for the front end and one for the actual data or "back end". I would really like to have a quick and easy way to "compile" a file that could just be copied to other Linux workstations that would allow each user to automatically connect to a central database over the LAN. But I know nothing about where to look for the files that are created by the Form designer, Report Designer, etc. or about what file formats are used, how to compile them, and all that. Where can I find such information? Re: New to this listNot sure whether my suggestion is going to be quite what you're after,
but I have set my system up whereby my server is running an SQL server and Knoda connects to this. It [Knoda] then stores all the forms, scripts etc on the server itself, so when someone signs on from any remote machine they all have access to my little stock and order system. When I start Knoda it asks for the host which I just enter as the IP address of my server. IIRC I had to add users to the SQL database on the server and created passwords etc, doing it remotely by command line ssh. Hope that makes sense! Cheers, Rob Arthur Baldwin wrote: > Hi all, > > I've been playing with Knoda for just a couple of days and was wondering > if there is currently any way to use it in a similar fashion to MSAccess > when it comes to network operation. The data is stored as sqlite file and you should find your data within .hk_classes/ Best regards, Marcel ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Crystal Reports - New Free Runtime and 30 Day Trial Check out the new simplified licensing option that enables unlimited royalty-free distribution of the report engine for externally facing server and web deployment. http://p.sf.net/sfu/businessobjects _______________________________________________ Hk-classes-discuss mailing list Hk-classes-discuss@... https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/hk-classes-discuss |

Re: New to this listNot sure either, but have a look at Base de données>Préférences de la
base de données, (and Gestionnaire d'objets) these may have something to do with what you are looking for. (sorry for the frech, I have rather to let it as such rather to try a fancy translation) Robert Wood skribis (esperanto estas la unua internacia lingvo): > Not sure whether my suggestion is going to be quite what you're after, > but I have set my system up whereby my server is running an SQL server > and Knoda connects to this.
