New web site...

Hey Team,

I know some of you have already noticed and started to register your
accounts - excellent... for the rest of you:

We have a new web site. This is very exciting. One of the hardest
things for XCSoar is getting started. As such we have migrated away
from the old site into a split site with two main areas:

* The Web site - to host the front page, basic getting started and
information on the project
* Trac - a wiki and job tracking system (replacing Bugzilla and
MediaWiki along with support for the new Git repository) to host all
the more complicated and community driven pages.

All the old Bugzilla tickets and MediaWiki pages have been migrated
across to the new site and an initial set of pages to help get started
have been written.

So what next?

* The wiki does not yet have any of the attachments and images. The
old site is still available at http://old.xcsoar.org/. Some of the
pages also need their format and presentation cleaned up. There is a
new Trac macro to allow us to add draft or old status to a page - see
the "Trac How To" page - http://www.xcsoar.org/trac/wiki/Trac%20How
%20to. Any help is appreciated, even if you just edit one page.

* The Terrain generation server has not yet been fully moved. It is
about 90% working on the new site, but not enough. It is still
accessible and linked to the old site. I will be working on it this
week.

* You will need to generate a new login & password - sorry we just
don't yet have a good solution to combine accounts from Sourceforge
(bring on OpenID).

* Testing - the site needs testing and bugs should be reported using
Trac - allocate them to the "website revamp" milestone. You can also
consider writing or correcting the existing pages, which have been
done in a little bit of a rush.

I hope things brings a new era to the ease of use of XCSoar. We have
lots to do, but every step seems to be always heading in the right
direction.

Thanks.

Scott
