Newbie: how to point smartsvn to my pre-existing working copy?

Hello

I am new to smartsvn. I had no problem to configure svn+ssh with a different port to access my repo on a linux box in my office.  However I am not sure how "to point" smartsvn to my working copy without wrecking it.
