Newbie needs help importing files

Hi,

Our scout group includes boy scouts and cubs. Our treasurer has asked me to take over the accounts for the cubs, so I downloaded Packledger. The manual says that files can be imported from Packmaster, but I don't have it on my computer.

The treasurer emailed me her backup Packledger files ending in .dat and .bu. She told me I would need to import them into my copy of Packledger. I can't open up any of the files, but from looking at the titles, it doesn't appear that there is a roster among them. She advised me to put all the files into one folder for Packledger to find it on my computer. I named the folder "Packledger."

After reading through the manual and the archives for this Yahoo group, I've realized that I need some guidance. :-)

When I click on File>Import, a window pops up. I click on the Browse button and find the "Packledger" file on my desktop. But when I click OK to import, a window with a red X pops up and says:

Failed open: import version. "No such file or directory"

I tried renaming the file to something else, but I keep getting the same popup window.

Does anyone have some ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

Kim,

 

I would suspect that your treasurer need to EXPORT from her PM and then send
you the exported file(s).

Then, you IMPORT the exported files you received from her.

 

I do not believe PL will not read PM master files directly.
