The plugin is not really a part of Eclipse (yet).
Nowadays the JGit core is BSD-licensed (and will not be part of the Eclipse
project) as opposed to the EPL used for the Eclipse specific parts, which we
hope will make it attractive for other project too.

At this stage noone I know of is working on a Netbeans plugin, but I
see no technical or legal obstacles.
