No results except spamI'm using version 0.96.4 as packaged for Ubuntu 7.10.
Lately, 100% of my search results are spam. I tried deleting my configuration (rm -rf ~/.gtk-gnutella) which has solved various problems in the past, but it didn't help. I have no idea what to do next. Is it possible this has something to do with Comcast's recent shenanigans? Thanks... ____________________________________________________________________________________ Never miss a thing. You should try to get the latest version from SVN and compile it yourself. Version 0.96.4 lacks some of the newest support against SPAM. Re: No results except spamI might try that, but I can live with the spam. The
problem is that I used to get 5000 real hits on a search and 50 spam. Now I just get 50 spam. --- Raphael Manfredi <Raphael_Manfredi@...> wrote: > Quoting Kevin Krumwiede <kjkrum@...> from > ml.softs.gtk-gnutella.users: > :I'm using version 0.96.4 as packaged for Ubuntu > 7.10. > :Lately, 100% of my search results are spam. That's because of dynamic querying. This is why you must identify spam automatically so that GTKG does not count that amount as real hits. Better yet, connecting to (recent) GTKG ultrapeers willl help you out because they discard spam on the fly as well and will not penalize your dynamic queries. Your other option is switching to Ultrapeer mode. It's quite possible that you are connected to Ultrapeers which are just bad or over-worked due to the high amount of spamming. Also make sure your search phrases don't exceed 30 characters. Regarding Comcast, that's nothing recent. It is well-known that they've been messing with Gnutella since, at least, 2006. It is not specific to Comcast anyway. At least Cox, Adelphia and Cablevision have been doing exactly the same. Never trust a news that you have not written yourself. -- 1000 octets = 1 ko = 1 kilooctet; 1024 octets = 1 Kio = 1 kibioctet 1000^2 octets = 1 Mo = 1 megaoctet; 1024^2 octets = 1 Mio = 1 mebioctet 1000^3 octets = 1 Go = 1 gigaoctet; 1024^3 octets = 1 Gio = 1 gibioctet ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
