Notebook selection.Advise needFolks,
I would like to replace current desktop with Ubuntu by notebook with Ubuntu. I found 3 kinds of suitable for computers -----the first---- Sony NS series(220 0r 240) Sony CS series((2153, 220) ----the second--- Acer Aspiro 3810 ----the third----- Toshiba Satelite (A505, E105) According to friend experiance : He does not have problen with Sony note book What about Toshiba and Acer labels? Does anybody try to use this model under Ubuntu, or other kind of Linux like opertaion system Sony is more expencive from my point of view. Like you, this is a primary working machine. I also liked the fact it had an additional internal hdd bay. Except WLAN (I don't have access to it) everything is working fine. Re: Notebook selection.Advise needAsk the vendors. Write to Sony, Acer, and Toshiba and see what they say.
If we do not express interest in Linux support from the vendors, how can we expect them to provide that support? They cannot read our minds. Let them know that there is a market for Linux support. In shop I discuss possibility to get money instead of OEM Windows Vista. To my regret shop cannot to do this without difficult formal procedure.
