Notice on mailinglists

Hello,

On Commons there have been several times that people come with the idea to
post Rfa's or Crat, CU and OV here on this list so more people know that
there is somebody running for extra rights.

Since nobody did something with the idea I would like to ask : ''Are there
any objections when there will be a note on this list about a request for
Rights''

I am happy to send a email for every request with the link to the
discussion, the nomination text and a link to the user contributions.

This will bring more people to the discussion when the know the people,
since we still have people passing for adminship with for 4 votes or we
need to make a rfc longer because we don't have enough people voting.

I am seriously interested in Commons, I am not interested in these details.. If this list is flooded with this type of information I will seriously consider to unsubscribe. If people want to post this kind of info on a list have a separate list but do not bug me.

I would rather have a page like the Dutch
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Mededelingen .
For the non-Dutch people; This is a low traffic page at the Dutch
Wikipedia where rfa/rfb/votes and other important things are announced.
Easy to have on your watchlist.

There are 4 idea's that have my attention and I will try to get the
opinion from the people about all 4 the ideas.

What you're saying is also on my list and will be raised in the village
pump this or next month.

I also don't like the idea to post this to the mailing-list. It would mostly just reach those that are already deep enough into Commons to get reached anyway by just putting it on COM:A.

Since I also have asked once about a place to post announcements but can't remember anymore if I also posted the details: On German Wikipedia we have a template (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorlage:Beteiligen). It contains only actual stuff and is integrated in our community portal (http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Autorenportal) but also on many user pages.
Here on Commons possibly the places to integrate it would be the community-portals (Commons:Community_portal), village-pumps and if wished by a user also his own page. The advantage is that users can put it not only on their watch-list, but also see it when they visit those other places and learn about its existence.

On wikinews, we post the current number of pending RFA's and similiar
votings to the header of [[special:recentchanges]], perhaps that might
be something to look into on commons.

Personally, I am subscribed to this list because i like having a vague
idea what is going on at commons. However i would honestly not really
care about who's up for RFA. Even if i knew the person, I probably
wouldn't vote for them since i have only very minor contributations to
commons, I would not feel right voting in an RFA.  but then again, I
quite likely would be in the minority here (since most people
subscribed, are fairly active).
