Hi everyone- I know Persian isn't exactly Balkan, but know a lot of my Balkan music-lovin' friends also would be interested in knowing about this house concert I'm arranging... hope you can make it!

A rare opportunity not to be missed! Iranian musicians Saeed Kamjoo and Arjang Faramazi perform at an intimate house concert Sunday, November 22..

Saeed Kamjoo: Kamanche (Persian spike fiddle)
Arjang Faramarzi: Tombak (Persian goblet drum)    


Saeed Kamjoo started studying kamanche at the age of seventeen with Ardeshir Kâmkâr, and furthered his under the guidance of masters Ali Akbar Shekârchi and Ustad Asghar Bahâri. He is also a graduate of the School of Fine Arts from Tehran University. His approach to playing kamanche is based on his perception of the values inherent in classical Persian music. Kamjoo's style of playing kamanche combines creativity and authenticity with innovation. A founding member of the Namad Ensemble, Kamjoo has also performed as a guest artist with Dastan Ensemble, one of the most renowned Persian musical groups.

Arjang Faramarzi began playing tombak at the age of eleven under the supervision of late Master Naser Farhangfar, the poet and the genius in tombak, at Zoroastrian Youths Organization (Faravahar). Faramarzi has cooperated with and participated in various musical groups and ensembles with which he has performed many concerts around the world, including the internationally renowned Mastan Ensemble, led by singer Parvaz Homay.
