Numbered bookmarks in Beamer PDF

Hello,

Using the version of Beamer supplied with tetex-latex 3.0 (current
RHEL5 package) I am trying to typeset a presentation such that the
bookmarks corresponding to each section are numbered. Reading the docs
leads me to believe that setting the hyperref numbered bookmarks
option as follows will work.

\documentclass[hyperref={bookmarksnumbered=true}]{beamer}

Unfortunately it doesn't, but typesetting the same presentation
content in article mode does produce appropriatly numbered bookmarks.

Hyperref appears to consume the various \contentsline
declarations to generate numbered bookmarks. Beamer generates a .toc
file with a different format to an article. I suspect this might be
the root of the problem.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks & regards,
