Thank you for your help. I found out that since I had database already present and when I parsed a new database with the same database name it was causing some problems. The only thing that needed to be done was to drop the database from mysql and then rebuild it from the dump file.

Did you run all the patch files in the caisi/updates directory as well? The problem is a missing column in the Facility table which is added in patch-2009-03-03.sql. But run the relevant updates just as you did the oscar updates.

Another request would be to have a database tag for "medications".
With the work on the prescription module and the possibility of "chronic

The erring sql that gives us old values (and not new) for measurements
on eForms you can find by searching the logs for the SQL that fills
(or rather doesn't fill) the eForm with data (thanks David for the
tip)

If you find . -type f -name "*.java" -exec grep -il
'mt.typeDisplayName' {} \; you get a large number of files (sigh) but
the SQL that gets formed into the above appears to be from line 272
of, of course, the last file I perused

You can see the simple error in the SQL, it sorts ascending by
m.dateObserved and descending by m.dateEntered resulting in,
ultimately, an ascending list for getLast(). Merely adding in another
DESC fixes it just fine when you test and run the amended above query
on the mysql command line. The correct function should look like

the problem with not picking up any values from maped lab values is
also explained. If the lab import results in a provider_id = 0 then
nothing picks up as there is no matching p.provider_no. You can fix
this as I had suggested by running an update on measurements, but it
does matter what you set the measurement provider_no to. You need to
set it to a provider on the system, and systems vary, and I can see
that just picking one may not be wise. Safer would be to update the
provider table to add a user with the matching userid of 0, if one
does not exist already.

eForm BUG FIX!!!

UPDATE- towards a definitive fix for a bug with whiskers that been
with us since Feb 2006
(Can I convince a developer, Jay or Ted, to test this and commit both
the code and the necessary database update if its reasonable please?)

The erring sql that gives us old values (and not new) for measurements
on eForms you can find by searching the logs for the SQL that fills
(or rather doesn't fill) the eForm with data (thanks David for the
tip)

SELECT mt.typeDisplayName, mt.typeDescription, m.dataField,
m.measuringInstruction,m.comments, m.dateObserved, m.dateEntered ,
p.first_name AS provider_first, p.last_name AS provider_last FROM
measurements m, provider p, measurementType mt WHERE
m.demographicNo='3997' AND m.type = 'SCR' AND m.providerNo=
p.provider_no AND m.type = mt.type GROUP BY m.id ORDER BY
m.dateObserved,m.dateEntered DESC LIMIT 1

If you find . -type f -name "*.java" -exec grep -il
'mt.typeDisplayName' {} \; you get a large number of files (sigh) but
the SQL that gets formed into the above appears to be from line 272
of, of course, the last file I perused
src/oscar_source/oscar_mcmaster/web/WEB-INF/classes/src/oscar/oscarEncounter/oscarMeasurements/bean/EctMeasurementsDataBeanHandler.java

You can see the simple error in the SQL, it sorts ascending by
m.dateObserved and descending by m.dateEntered resulting in,
ultimately, an ascending list for getLast(). Merely adding in another
DESC fixes it just fine when you test and run the amended above query
on the mysql command line. The correct function should look like

the problem with not picking up any values from maped lab values is
also explained. If the lab import results in a provider_id = 0 then
nothing picks up as there is no matching p.provider_no. You can fix
this as I had suggested by running an update on measurements, but it
does matter what you set the measurement provider_no to. You need to
set it to a provider on the system, and systems vary, and I can see
that just picking one may not be wise. Safer would be to update the
provider table to add a user with the matching userid of 0, if one
does not exist already.

The print buttons you describe for printing encounter notes (and lab
results) don't print as much as create pdf's on the server which are
passed to the client browser for saving or printing.

and patient labels

Error printing lab req and printing patient encounter

Hi

I should have provided more detail in my first email. I just finished
a new oscar install. Great software! But, when I try to print a Lab
req form using the "print pdf" which is located in the Lab Req 2007
form, I get an error. When I also try to print the patient encounter
I get an error.

I have updated my print drivers, but no help. I can print lab reqs
located in the Oscar Demo.

Any suggestions? Is there a problem with my install? My printer is
networked lexmark printer.

Is there an update on the status of 9.10? The last date mentioned in the archives puts the release around the end of October, but I don't see it labeled in CVS.

Installing OSCAR to use port 443 instead of 8443

I have written a tutorial in the OSCAR User's Manual (google version) on
how to install OSCAR so that it uses port 443. I was required to do this
so that I can access the EMR from an Interior Health Authority computer.

Please submit any feedback/suggestions for further editing.

proper specialists lab form layout

Hi,

If I'm a specialist and I'm filling out a lab request form, the logic is inverted from how you would fill out the request if you are the family doctor.

That is, when creating a Lab Request, the value that comes up as "Family Doctor" is defaulted to the value stored in the demographic record as "doctor", or in the database via the query:

"SELECT CONCAT(last_name, ', ', first_name) AS provName, ohip_no FROM provider WHERE provider_no = 'XXXXXX'"

Typically, the specialist would use the "doctor" field for him/herself and the "referral doctor" field as the actual family physician.

How do people handle the specialist logic? Is there a flag in oscar.properties file to flip the logic for specialists? Or do people use some other model where the Family Doctor is handwritten/typed in as part of the CC?

Hi Bharat,

To see if there is more information on the error you might check catalina.out in the tomcat/logs directory. If you do not have a catalina.out there, try /var/log/syslog

I'm not familiar with phpmyadmin but if you can map the columns correctly then you should be ok.

As for importing excel spreadsheet data into oscar: It will most likely require some programming. Export the spreadsheet data into a csv file. Write a program which reads in the data and maps each column in the spreadsheet to a column in oscar. If it is just demographic data such as phone, health card and address info, then you can work with the demographic table in oscar. Family physicians are linked to the relevant record in the provider table.

A (but still not definitive) fix better than updating the measurements
file (which still gets you dealing with buggy eForm calls for
measurements that give you the first measurement of a given type for a
given patient) is to instead write your own SQL for apconfig.xml

for my production use the relevant file is found at
/usr/local/apache-tomcat-5.5.25/webapps/oscar_peter/WEB-INF/classes/oscar/eform/apconfig.xml

yours will be similar (note that there are other apconfig.xml
scattered in your install just to make life interesting. This is the
one the program reads)
Its very safe to play with Select statements (which read data), the
most that will happen is that it doesn't work if you forget a comma or
something. I have been restarting Tomcat for testing.

By example, an appropriately formed and tested XML to support
oscarDB=last_creat for the last serum creatinine value and so on is as
below which can be appended to the list
