My guess anyway. Anyway I kind of sort of, vaguely remember something from some management training seminar about writing down the first word that came to mind when first a proposal is heard.. Gutsy. So what did 'Show me what a spread sheet in JavaFX would look like.' (or words to that effect, paraphrasing there from a presentation at JavaOne) & What would Base be like if one took the UI change that far? My first thought runs towards JavaFX wrapper around the data access API. I;m not talking about a replacement for the current Base document interface. I'm thinking of a set of JavaFX widgets that would interact with OOo datasets for presentation data. Two further thoughts come to mind 1) The dataset (dataform, resultset) objects could be running on the local machine. 1.a) still essentially C/S by having this set of javaFX widgets include connection management 2) The daaset objects running on a OO.o headless instance on a remote server 2.a) move connection management to a server side widget (or ?? ) "for presentation data"? - again if one did not replace the current Basedocument interface but augmented the package: - Offer design using the full desktop package and add a JavaFX runtime engine. Well that's it from the peanut gallery. Drew --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscribe@... Re: Well OK..still OT? ( was: OT - Really?)Just a small comment, there is a spreadsheet in Dojo toolkit you can
implement right now. Using OOoCalc as the background engine.
