Hi LOCAL 30 brothers and sisters:

Having a great interest in politics working here at Kaiser as been interesting.  It's very easy to tell from the letters we receive from Mr. Halvorson to the Union steward publications we get in the mail that news we get as employees are biased and untrue.  I want to start by shedding light on the dark number of 47 million that are claimed to be "uninsured".  According to the US Census Bureau:

- 45% of the 47 million are UNDOCUMENTED (ILLEGAL) Immigrants.  (This means they are NOT US citizens and should not be afforded the rights and priviledges of Americans.  Especially are Brothers and Sisters who were foreign and properly assimilated according to current United States legislation.)

- 29.3% are the 18-24 year olds who think they'll never get sick therefore choose not to pay for any health care coverage

- 8.5% are reportedly earning upwards of around $75,000 annually and choose not to pay for any health care coverage

- 9% are reportedly eligible for state run health care (IE. SCHIP, MEDI-CAL) but for unknown reasons do not sign up to receive these benefits.

The remainder 8.8% (4.1mil) are the americans that Health Reform could really help.  All Americans know the US is in dire need of true health care reform.  There is a difference between change and reform and what Obama is doing is trying to change the scope and outlook of the US Economy.  Reform is prudent change and prudence would serve us all best when is comes to deciding to 'fork over' 1/7th of the United States economy.

Hi Dave,

Health care is quite a hot topic now and I'm glad you created a post about the potential overhaul/reform, here in our forums.

Your post is quite thought-provoking and I was wondering if you could share the source of the statistics you quoted.

Fraternally,

Dustin
