On a Different Note...Tom Tom GPS on Newegg - $50http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16858194072
Ordered one for myself. The unique suction cup on the back should attach nicely to my tach face. BTW, anyone have any recommendations on hooking up power? It has a lighter attachment. I figured I could either buy the female end of the lighter attachment from Advance Auto for about $5 and just extend the line to my battery. -aki _______________________________________________ dc-cycles mailing list dc-cycles@... http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles |

Re: On a Different Note...Tom Tom GPS on Newegg - $50I know I have extra wires tucked in under my frame for "accessories",
you might want to see if you have any of those. The trick with running a lighter socket to the battery works too tho. -Paul On Jun 19, 2009, at 9:36 AM, Aki Damme wrote: > that's an idea. Re: On a Different Note...Tom Tom GPS on Newegg - $50I have a Wide Glide so "accessories" mean more chrome doo-dads to the
Harley engineers. Doubt there's any extra lines lying around but I'll check. :-) -aki On Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 9:46 AM, Paul Benish<firebird@...> wrote: > I know I have extra wires tucked in under my frame for "accessories", you > might want to see if you have any of those. Re: On a Different Note...Tom Tom GPS on Newegg - $50You know the Tom Tom One is not waterproof right? Motorcycle-specific GPS's
are waterproof, one reason they so much more expensive. I guess at that price it's worth taking a chance - you'll just need to remember to take it off the bike when it's wet or rig up some kind of waterproof cover. Re: On a Different Note...Tom Tom GPS on Newegg - $50I figured I'd keep a ziploc baggie handy. And besides, I ride a Harley. We
don't ride in the rain. Might melt the bike. ;-) On Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 10:28 AM, Trevor Angel <trevangel@...> wrote: > You know the Tom Tom One is not waterproof right? Got it at Costco about 10 years ago, and with the CD, lighter power connector, and car windshield mount I think it was $200 at the time (GPSs were a lot more expensive back then). It's intended for hunting, boating, etc. and is water resistant (nothing is water "proof"...not with lawyers around). I got the RAM mount holder designed for it, and it works great. Something similar, with a more modern GPS may still be available somewhere. Mine doesn't let you enter addresses or that fancy stuff...it just shows you were you are, where you were, and shows cross street names as you approach them. No sound, etc. -- Mike B. _______________________________________________ dc-cycles mailing list dc-cycles@... http://dc-cycles.org/mailman/cgi-bin/listinfo/dc-cycles |

Re: On a Different Note...Tom Tom GPS on Newegg - $50The suction mount is just as easy to remove as having it on a ram mount. No
biggie. -aki On Fri, Jun 19, 2009 at 12:47 PM, Mike B. <omni@...> wrote: > Trevor Angel wrote: > >> You know the Tom Tom One is not waterproof right?
