OneTwenty Video Game Quiz Night (interested?)Hi *,
OneTwenty is organising a Video Game Quiz Night scheduled for sometime late next month. Please let us know if you are interested in attending. Preliminary details at: - http://events.onetwenty.org/index.php/2007/02/12/did-someone-say-video-game-quiz-night/ Having a good estimate of how many people will attend will help us decide on a suitable venue and also allow us to acquite prizes (the more people, the better the prizes!). If you have never attended a quiz night before, the basic format is that each table has a piece of paper that they write answers on. At the end of the night (or each round), these answers are collected, scores are tallied, and prizes are distributed. There will also be smaller competitions (maybe with people shouting out answers or some on-screen gaming action!). Like any good video game, the quiz night will be easy to play, but difficult to master. Expect a wide range of questions from general video game knowledge (eg. Mario is the mascot of which company?) to rather hardcore. Hope to see you all there! - Nick --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: pigmi-unsubscribe@... For additional commands, e-mail: pigmi-help@... |

RE: OneTwenty Video Game Quiz Night (interested?)Hey Nick
I am in the process of starting a Games and Simulations Development Group at Murdoch Uni. So hopefully if it all goes ahead, I will be able to advertise this through the website, if you are interested. Re: OneTwenty Video Game Quiz Night (interested?)Thanks for the positive responses! Are most people planning on
bringing friends? family? We are deciding on whether to go for a licensed venue. Aside from the demographic (opening up the event to teens and kids), it's also a cost issue. If we go to a pub, the cheap entry prices ($5) will be overshadowed by the venue cost and the price of food and drinks. On the other hand, somewhere like a community centre will be a bit cheaper (more money for prizes) and we could probably arrange for people to BYO food and drinks (so entry really is just $5). So it will also be cheaper for attendees. Thoughts? Preferences? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: pigmi-unsubscribe@... Re: OneTwenty Video Game Quiz Night (interested?)I don't have any personal experience with organising an event, but I know of three pubs that regularly run general knowledge quiz nights to attract punters (Morley Ale House, Capt Stirling, one on Canning Hwy whose name escapes me). Maybe if you can guarantee a turnout (pre-sold tickets?), you could negotiate no venue cost, and maybe even discounts on drinks?
Anyone who has actually organised an event before care to comment? On 2/12/07, Nick Lowe <gamefreedom@...> wrote: Thanks for the positive responses! Are most people planning on |

Re: OneTwenty Video Game Quiz Night (interested?)In my experience with Quiz nights, it’s a simple choice.....if you want a great party atmosphere, it a pub. It solves al kinds of organisation, catering problems. If you want to make it very affordable/open to kids, definitely a community hall. I’m looking forward to this!
