OpenBSD on IBM Power System?Hi,
Is there any chance to install OpenBSD on a "logical hardware partition" created on IBM p-Series machine? There is a mac-ppc port, but as I understand it's only for apple hardware? Is there any one having some experience on this field? -- Greetings Rafal Bisingier |

It could be made to run on some of them, but it isn't clear to me if IBM makes sufficient documentation available to do that. |

I'd like to run OpenBSD only on "logical partition" (IBM's own virtual hardware enviroment). As far as I know it's (almost) the same on every p-Series system. I don't think that documentation for this "virtual hardware" is of "restricted access" type. So what exactly would be needed to make OpenBSD ready to deploy on IBM's p-Series LPAR? -- Greetings Rafal Bisingier |

Re: OpenBSD on IBM Power System?Hi,
In order to run an OS on the IBM POWER Hypervisor, it needs kernel modifications to make the kernel aware of a set of hypervisor calls. So, as is, OpenBSD cannot run in an LPAR. More on what's required can be found here : http://www.power.org/members/developers/specs. You need to sign up for a Power.org account to view the specs. Vijay Ramesh vramesh2@...
