OpenGEU 9.04 Luna Crescente pixmap GTk themes

Hallo everyone, I just subscribed to the list. I'm the author and project leader of the OpenGEU GNU/Linux distro, an Enlightenment based distro derived from Ubuntu, you can have more informations here:
http://www.opengeu.com
For the next release, OpenGEU 9.04 Luna Crescente, we need to develop 2 pixmap based GTK themes. OpenGEU doesn't use only E17, but a lot of gnome tools, and it is the first distro trying to integrate E17 into Gnome or viceversa, since E17 alone is not a DE but rather just a Desktop Shell.

Well, whatever, we need GTK themes too :)
So, I and ArtPulse developed 2 new themes, and theya re in a mockup form right now. Is anyone here willing to help us transforming them into real themes?

Thanks to anyone answering this request,
greetings to everybody,

Luca D.M.

Hallo Robert, here are the mockups:

http://opengeu.intilinux.com/themes/Morning%20breeze%20Bacada.jpg
http://opengeu.intilinux.com/themes/Midnight%20lights%20Bacada.jpg

Keep in mind that these are just mockups. I already know that some things like the "centered menu" are impossible in GTK. What's important is that the GTK themes can look as closer as possible to the E17 themes. So, these pixmap themes should look as close as possible to teh mockups: metacity is not needed.

Of course, if anyone will be interested in helping (you?), I'll post links for the original multilayer file: it will be easier to extract usable pixmaps from the original file.
Greetings and thanks for answering,

Luca D.M.

I suggest you look at some existing pixmap themes and learn how they are
made. Apart from the centered menus, everything looks possible with a
pixmap theme from the mockups. There is more information about creating
GTK+ themes here: http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/Tutorials/GtkThemes

Some socumentation for the pixbuf engine is available here:
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/Tutorials/GtkEngines/PixmapEngine

Thomas

I'm seeing what I can do about it, am looking at the documentation, but I cannot do everything by myself. OpenGEU is, as the name suggests, opensource. So, even if I'm the project leader and foundator, I am not a coder or a gtk themes expert.. it's sad to see that if the project needs something as simple as a GTK theme, I have to do it myself and nobody shows up to help. While, sometimes, to code entire new softwares, I do find people helping... well, thanks for you answer aniway.

Greets,

Luca

I think you've stumbled upon one of the biggest myths about open source:
just because you make a project open source doesn't mean there is an
army of volunteers out there waiting to do the work for you. I'm sure we
will all gladly help you out if you run into problems, but we're not
going to do it for you. Open source is all about scratching your *own*
itch :-)

Regards,

Thomas

I am not a themer.

Your best bet would be filing an artwork request under
http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/ArtRequests . Most requests are just
single icons though, so YMMV.

I've also seen mockups being picked up by themers at gnome-look.org in the past.

Good luck,
Rob
