Because when I installed
OOo_3.0.0rc1_20080904_LinuxIntel_install_en-US_deb.tar.gz I had no
"Writing Aids" visible. I thought installing the langpack might help :-)

Deleting the profile didn't help. I've just noticed that Calc won't start
either, although all the other apps are ok. Looks like I need to check
some MD5SUMs and re-install

Thanks - John

A thorough purging of old files and a reinstall has cleared up the
problem. Maybe a conflict with something from a beta install?

It's absolutely my experience as well that installing one beta after
another, gives unreliable results.
Nothing to worry about, but something good to notice.
