Opie 1.2.4 release

Hi all,

I'd like to get the ball rolling on the 1.2.4 release. Please refer to the
1.2.4 release bug in the bug tracker:

  http://opie-bugs.oszine.de/view.php?id=1873

#1813 and #1908 need some more testing, I will look at these on my spitz soon.
#1829 would be nice to fix I think, but I don't really know what to do about
it.

The rest of them can be pushed on to 1.2.5 as far as I'm concerned. If anyone
has any objections, other bugs they want fixed for the 1.2.4 release or other
thoughts, please speak up now :)

Cheers,
Paul

Sounds like a solid plan.

I sneaked a few more fixes in, but I think it's now time for a proper freeze.
Beyond what is listed under the master bug [1] only critical bugs should now
be fixed for this release.

Only one issue remains open - #1829 (the IrDA crash). I will have another look
at it, but if I can't fix it in a reasonable time then I will postpone it to
1.2.5.

During the freeze period I would appreciate as much testing as possible.
Concentrate on the bugs fixed in the release (and there were a lot of them)
but look out for any other serious issues also. Time to fire up your
cross-compilers :) [2]

How does September 30th sound as a release date?

Cheers,
Paul

[2] OE recommended - add "require
conf/distro/include/preferred-opie-versions-1.2.4-pre.inc" to the end of your
local.conf.

Sounds fine to me. I personally see no reason why an
IrDA bug should hold up a release. But I do not usually
use that part of the code.

I tried to reproduce #1829 again today, and couldn't, so I have postponed it
to the next version.

1.2.4 is now tagged in CVS as of about 10 minutes ago, and almost everything
is poised for release. The release plan page is here:

I'm just waiting to hear back from Dan to see if he's still going to do the
release stuff this time around.

Cheers,
Paul
