Dear Members of this forum,

I am new to this forum and have just joined to seek help regarding Opieplayer issues. I am very new to the software field and hence am a little lost.

I have a reference design machine which is a prototype of a mobile phone running in linux. It uses the OPIE as its environment, more specifically OPIE 1.2.0. With Opie player 1 I could not play any video files and only .wav and .mp3 audio formats worked, though I found several video codecs in the code. Streaming completely did not work.

Learning about the new Opieplayer2 released recently, I downloaded the player2 codecs available as plugins from the ipkgfind website and included it into the filesystem that I eventually ported to the reference machine. This enabled Ogg audio to work but nothing else improved. Also, though Ogg worked, the quality was very low. The sampling rate was too fast. When I tried to play video and  files for which codecs were indeed available even in Opie player 1 i got the error message “Sorry, no appropriate decoders  found”.

When I try to stream, i encounter the following results. When I enter the web address of the audio streaming file, if the audio file is supported, (i.e. .ogg, .wav and .mp3) the system gets hung.

If any of you could suggest any solution to my problems or if you might know the reasons for these problems .. it would be very helpful to me. Since this is my first job and first project, I dunno where to begin! =)

Thank you so much!
