Original release date?

Does MBz have the functionality to record the original release date of
an album so that it can be included in a FLAC tag?

I suspect this will be possible now that we have ReleaseGroups.  We
should be able to grab the ReleaseGroup release date (which I assume
will be the earliest) and use this in Picard but I assume Picard will
need an update to include this functionality.

The web service does not yet provide a release date for release groups, but I think this could be a nice enhancement.

Regarding Picard, there will be support for an originaldate field in the next release, but Picard does currently not automatically fetch that date (this could be changed if the web service would include this information). But it will be possible to fetch the original release date via a plugin, there is a plugin which will use MB advanced relationships for that.
