Overo Desktop Image: X broken etc.Hi, I'm completely new to this so forgive me if this is basic stuff.
The gumstix board I received was very easy to set up and play around with connected to an LCD monitor keyboard and mouse. Soon after, I wanted to get it running on the Palo43 and screwed something up in the startup file. I thought I could start with a fresh system by making a bootable SD image from here: http://gumstix.net/Software/view/Getting-started/Working-with-pre-built-images/index.php?option=com_easyfaq&task=view&id=125&Itemid=111 Originally on the Palo43, I would have to launch X by typing "X". With the new image "X" no longer works. To fix it I had to do: # cd /var/volatile/ # mkdir lock # mkdir log # mkdir run # mkdir tmp then X runs, but when I do: # enlightenment_start" it starts, but no mouse or keyboard input works. How do get these working, or how can I install an image of the way the board ships? Thanks, Dave |

Re: Overo Desktop Image: X broken etc.I was able to get it working... the above link doesn't have the line to transfer "x-load.bin.ift" over to the FAT partition. add this line in: $ sudo cp x-load-overo.bin.ift /media/card/x-load.bin.ift Hope this helps others struggling with the same problem! |

There are only 3 files required on the FAT partition: MLO, u-boot.bin, and uImage. MLO should be written first. The instructions at the link below are correct: http://www.gumstix.net/Setup-and-Programming/view/Overo-Setup-and-Programming/Creating-a-bootable-microSD-card/111.html Steve > Hope this helps others struggling with the same problem! > > > > -- > View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/Overo-Desktop-Image%3A-X-broken-etc.-tp26104370p26121994.html > Sent from the Gumstix mailing list archive at Nabble.com. > > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Come build with us!
