Hi it's my first post here and not last :).
I write qualifying work relating to system Pararell Knoppix and his utilization to parallel calculations. I will have a few questions. First question is: I have the version PK 2.9 from here: http://pareto.uab.es/mcreel/PelicanHPC/download/  and is exists the possibility installation it on the hard disc, this would facilitate me the work. I will be able to count on the help if will I have problems?
Thank you.

If you're getting started, PelicanHPC, available on the same link, is a more up to date distro that does the same thing as PK. PK is no longer maintained. It has more examples than PelicanHPC, but no other advantages.

Neither PK nor PelicanHPC are meant to be installed to hard disk. It's possible, to a certain degree - search this forum for "install" and you'll get some hits. I find that running PelicanHPC in a virtual machine using bridged networking to connect to real compute nodes is a good solution.

For a cluster distro that installs to HD, check out Rocks and/or Perceus/Warefulf - they're designed for that purpose, which PelicanHPC is not.

And what is better to do? To start it normally (LiveCD), or through the programme e.g. VMware?

That depends on what you want to do. For playing around and learning, virtualized is fine. For number crunching, if the frontend node is going to participate in the calculations, it is probably better to avoid virtualization.

I will get programmes which I will have to start and show as utilization of the PK system to parallel calculations looks in the practice. My qualifying work consists in this.
