PSVELOHi all,
Iḿ trying to use psvelo to relocate epicenters of earthquakes. I have the coordinates before and after the relocation. How can i use the psvelo to plot this data? Thanks -- João Rocha To unsubscribe, send the message "signoff gmt-help" to listserv@... |

Re: PSVELOHi,
Because you do not use psxy? Cheers, ********************************** Milton P. You could use psxy to plot the data. If these are moment tensors, you can use psmeca to plot the beachball on the relocated epicenter and draw a line to the original location (specify original location as lat/lon and then in the last two columns specify the lat/lon of the relocation). These differences may not be large enough to show up given the size of the beachball, however. You could set up multi-segment files with the pairs of locations for each epicenter as one segment, then use psxy to plot lines and it will draw lines between the before and after. Use separate files (or some fancy awk work) to plot different symbols for the before and after locations. Plot these after the lines. Hope this helps... Ben Horner-Johnson ben@... Re: PSVELOHi,
I used psxy to plot the epicenters of located and relocated earthquakes, but what i want to do now is to plot the "vector displacement" with arrows to where they were relocated. What i'm using is simply pairs of coordinates (location-relocation) and that should work, but i'm not being able to sucssefully plot it... Thanks any way. 2009/11/8 Milton P. You should be able to use psxy -Svs to plot the vector from the start (columns 1 and 2) to the end (columns 3 and 4). Put the location as the start and relocation as the end and it should work, unless you're using a version of GMT that doesn't have that option (in which case, you should update GMT).
