pwgl-users: CPU issues

so finally it tooks a little bit than 6 hours for computing a list of
5000 editing distances in fv-morphologie (for 100 not so-long MIDI
sequences).
If PWGL is using full CPU, it should be half the time... ("old
fashion" anyway ?)
I tryed to renice -15 into a shell with no visible effect, is there
another way it make it faster ?
I'll test same list using SBCL tomorrow both OSX86 and linuxppc.

Julien,

Well, basically exporting as PS (postscript) should create a multi-page document. If it does not work let me know. It requires you to go to 'page view' and put everything inside the margins (the black ones)

The new release seems to work better on Snow Leopard, thanks.

I have a little request.
For score editing I'm using Sibelius, that is quite
limited concerning MusicXML import — without
purchasing a really unaffordable plug-in… – unlike Finale.

As I really prefer to work with Sibelius, I propose (for the moment)
a rather unsatisfactory solution… Would it be possible to print or
turn to pdf whole chord / score editors, not only the current part
that is
displayed/zoomed?

This way I could copy by hand large passages of music containing
microtones, complex rhythms and measure changes, etc.
without having to zig-zag between the two programs to correct
every import error.

Hello,

I'm beginning to have computation with some large lists (editing
distances using fv-morphologie) and my Intel Dualcore OSX 10.5.8 is
not going up to only 50 % for each core, i.e. half the full speed
(this seems to have nothing to do with my lisp, SBCL run the same code
using 98 %):
Is there a way to run with full CPU ?

Hi Greg

Another way, using only the keyboard :
1) add as many notes as you want (with A key like Javier said)
2) navigate through the pitches with tab (forward) or shift+tab (backward) keys.

Note : You will see the "current" pitch moving with a different color (maybe you need to
select one note before). This works also with a selection of notes.

3) change the pitches with the up or down arrow keys.

No help file for this one, pure chance and a bit of oral tradition =).
This is pretty useful when you only have a trackpad…

Hello,
french characters with accents still cause troubles in PWGL:
they seem OK in documentation part of PWGL patches, but they appear in
a wrong way into comment boxes and
they completely desappear in dbd files.
I would also like to use cyrilic characters in both patchs and dbd
files :)

Please, is there an issue for this ?

HI,

Yes, this is a long-stading problem we have with systems using languages other than English.
It's probably the name of your MIDI device being something like "schönetönengeneratorgerät" :p
For now, I'm not sure if it's possible to turn the "offending" devices off-line or something...

We are looking into this, however.

pwgl-users: Iterate is missing

you right, I have installed the 0.1b, but it was not the very latest one... now it works.

But I have encountered a new message with the latest version while the application opening : "Could not find the following libraries, while attempting to autoload them: 'iterate' ". Iterate is missing in the autoload libraries window

Viuhka ornaments and documentation

Dear list,

I am trying to work with the Viuhka environment.
Does anyone have a description of the build in ornaments and documentation of their use? (I know some of the basic, c for cluster, g-1 for grace note) but there are more and unfortunately I couldn't find anything in documentation.
Does as well anyone have any kind of documentation in regard with Viuhka? I know that there is a 11 year old paper from Mikael Laurson, (Viuhka, an unpublished user manual, 1998) through the references of the "Micro Textures with Macro-Notes" paper.

Audio Setup Error in Vista

Unfortunately, the "bodytext" is not a rich text element so changing
the font attributes is not possible (this may change in the future).
You can however, use instructions inside the strings to denote bold,
italic etc. but these take effect only when exported, for example, to
PDF. The idea is that if we are in the future able to show these also
inside PWGL your work would not be wasted. Anyways, it doesn't do any
harm...

Well, it seems to be missing of course... DBL as a language is
something I have made so Googling does not really help. The DBL
grammar (DBL.g) we put together with Kilian and I'm attaching it here.
I did not check how accurate it is but it seems to be fairly recent.

I would advice against using the 'documentAttributes' however, since
the idea is that all PWGL documentation should have fairly uniform look.

explanations which may be included into the tutorial (more convenient

- change font size ;
- bold, italic ;
