Converting SWF to .AVI

I wonder if some of you already needed to convert SWF (generated from
Pano2VR) to some format a DVD player can read. Might be .AVI, .MPEG or
something like it.

I still haven't found a software that could do this conversion, nor in Mac,
nor in Windows.

Do you have any sugestion?

I find it amazing that you could position the helicopter so precisely above
the same spot.

Q1) is there any possibility to turn off the auto rotation ?
(that will make it easier to explore the scene)

Q2) Is there a hidden controller somewhere ?
(when in fullscreen mode it is not possible to use the keyboard for zooming
so a controller is needed)

Can PTGui simulate a 4-shot panorama stitching? Without images?

I wonder what it might look like to take 4 images 90° appart, with the
camera slanted, so that diagonal becomes horizontal.

Obviously I did not purchase the camera yet, so I do not have real pictures.
Can I use e.g. 4 uni-colored files of 2816x2112 pixel like these?

I am trying PTGui 8.3.1 Windows trial version under Ubuntu Karmic and Wine.
Tried the photos and template from

well.

This is the data I have:

Camera: Canon A540

Sensor size: 5.76 x 4.31 mm
Sensor pixel: 2816x2112 pixels
f=5.8 x 0.38 (wide angle lens) = 2.2

horizontal: 105.05
vertical: 88.71
diagonal: 116.95

In PTGui make sure to use Smartblend, install it if you don't already have it, this will help a lot for a busy pano like this.
With the horizon becoming a S lying on its side I use the Set Center Point tool and click on the high part of the S where I think the center should be, usually a few clicks and I have it looking fairly good. After this I look for stitching errors and add more control points.
I manually added control points under the corners of the bridge and supports.
After creating the panorama I had to do a small alignment adjustment on the bridge using PhotoShop.

I am going to try out all the various combinations that you suggested.
Depth of field was what I was also trying to maximize.
I have been aspiring to achieve that clarity for both very near and far
objects that Roger Berry has always achieved.
My panoramas don't come anywhere close.
I also cant understand how he manages in just four shots what I cant do
in nine :(
I have almost completed stitching the four samples he sent me of the
elephants and will put it up tomorrow.
There are a few problems with breaks in the bridge and the people
getting spliced which I intend to solve today by putting a few more
control points.

Certainly, 0.7s isn't going to stop that sort of movement and you will need
a faster shutter speed.

Upping the ISO as you mentioned earlier is one way to improve the shutter, I
also mentioned that doing a number of test panos with various ISOs perhaps
even to the ISO ceiling will give you an idea what your camera and rig is
capable of in terms of noise. That is the main reason you want to keep the
ISO down. In low light conditions you need to choose a trade off between a
few things(noise / shutter speed / DOF)

The other thing you could try is to increase your aperture(decrease your F
stop), letting in more light also allows a faster shutter speed. You then
'may' have to consider your depth of field(DOF).

One-shot panos by Canon P&S camera rig?

Hi all,

I am working on a prototype for an affordable Camera Rig to take Google
streetview-like 360-degree one-shot panoramas.
Zenith and Nadir are not needed. So no 360x180 degree panos necessary.

Because I would like to encourage others to build their own rig parts must
be available plenty and cheap.
For the same reason I would like to avoid the need for special skills or a
fine-mechanics workshop.

Canon Point & Shoot cameras with a Wide Angle lens seems to be a good choice
because certain Canon cameras can be equiped with CHDK or SDM (StereoData
Maker) custom firmware for perfect synchronization.

Right now my calculation looks like this:

4 cameras seem to be doable.

However I wonder how I can simulate what the final pano would look like?
Michel Thoby was so kind to run such a simulation for me for another setup.

Well that's where I've been for a week, reading and lurking. lol
And that's why I posted, for a little feedback on personal preferences, experiences.
But it looks like Hugin will be the one, since it's free and I haven't seen a dollar in many months.

something strange happens to autumn when zooming looking towards the
communications tower just by the wall at the end of a track ?

I remember when you posted the first one I made a few bookmarks for helicopters
but I cannot find them now.

Andrew's issue has been resolved.
As a reminder.

The file PTFilters.8BF must be placed in the 64bit plugin folder.
Photoshop must be restarted if it is running.
The plugins will only show up in the 64bit version.

For someone from a tropical country (I'm from Brazil), it's great to be able to see aerial views showing very nicely the differences between the seasons.
