ParallelKnoppix remastering problem

I'm trying to add a package to PK, but to start off with I decided to check that the remastering scripts provided in PK 2.7.1 would work.

I used an external harddrive as the destination drive for all three steps, and I burned the image to CD on a windowsXP machine using Roxio CD creator.

The problem is that when i try to boot from the new CD, the boot process is halted with an error:

Kernel panic: VFS: Unable to mount root fs

above this message, it also asks me to specify a "root=" boot option.

I have tried numerous destinations with the "root=/dev....." cheatcode, including /dev/ram0, /ramdisk, /cdrom etc etc, but with no luck. Can anyone help me with this problem please.
