Perth-based World builders?All,
I've been to a couple of IGDA events now, and was delighted to find a couple of other world-builders at the September mixer. I'm rather curious if there are any others out there attempting the behemoth task of building a whole world, virtual, pen & paper or otherwise, in good old Perth. My interest is two-fold, firstly to bounce some ideas off over a beer or three (ecology, geography, weather, genetics, technology, PvP/PvE, the potential topics are endless!), and secondly, to guage interest in a possible collaborative effort at a future tech/gaming expo. I'd also love to hear from anyone doing anything related to interactive stories/collaborative writing.. :) Cheers, Avril -- Reveri.es Virtual World www.reveri.es --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: pigmi-unsubscribe@... Re: Perth-based World builders?I've only been to one IGDA event, but definately want to be involved
in the scene. Aside from the various worlds created through my roleplaying mastering and gamse creation, I've been looking into procedurally generating a whole world. My latest idea is a cube-based full 3d world where everything in it is modifiables sort of like a cross between Dwarf Fortress, Wurm Online and Love. I play to attempt geography, ecology, history, trade, technology and combat. No pvp though. ;) Next IGDA we should meet up and share notes. Re: Perth-based World builders? Thanks, I think so! Trying to do some funky stuff - scripting a
Blender server to produce real-time globe renders of the world with lighting from fires, weather, etc, plus generate collaborative novels direct from the users interactions/dialogue. :) On 15/10/2009, at 7:11 PM, Chris McCormick <chris@...> wrote: > On Thu, Oct 15, 2009 at 05:57:42PM +0800, Avril Cox wrote: >> Reveri.es Virtual World >> www.reveri.es > > Just wanted to say yr project sounds really exciting. :) > > Chris. > > ------------------- > http://mccormick.cx > > --------------------------------------------------------------------- > To unsubscribe, e-mail: pigmi-unsubscribe@... > For additional commands, e-mail: pigmi-help@... > --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: pigmi-unsubscribe@... Re: Perth-based World builders?I knew we weren't the only ones! ;)
Wow, your project sounds awesome! I'm particularly interested in the fully user-modifiable worlds (incl. terraforming) with a heavy emphasis on realistic environment simulation. Combat without PvP though? Is it multiplayer? I'd love to have a chat at the next mixer, anyway! Do you have a website for your project? I'd love to have a look in the meantime.
