You will need to translate the following file:

Make sure that your translation is encoded as Windows Codepage 1254.

Also make sure to follow the instructions in the header ( Note: If
translating this file, replace '!insertmacro
PIDGIN_MACRO_DEFAULT_STRING' with '!define'. )

There is no problem.

There were two bugs about this whcih were closed.
If there is a Turkish installer I think there should be a Turkish language selection
and I am ready to prepare it for you to include.
I just dont know how to do. If you could tell me it would be great.

If there is a Kurd translation, it is because someone wrote and
submitted it. We will not remove it just because someone else does
not speak it. I suspect, however, that this is not what you are
really asking for ... what is the problem, exactly?

submitted it. We will not remove it just because someone else does

Generally, the best way to tell this is to look at the Help->About box (which
will change to Help->Translator Information in Pidgin 2.7.0) and look for the
two-letter language code for this language. If the language is not listed, then
we'll gladly accept a translation for that language. If the language is already
listed, please contact the existing translator to arrange helping out or taking
over the existing translation.

All that said, I don't see an existing translation for this language. Feel free
to submit the translation on a ticket at developer.pidgin.im.

Friulian translation

I would like to know if there is already someone mantaining/translating
Pidgin to Friulian language.

If not, I would like to let you know that me and a friend of mine
already started this quest by our own, and we would love to see our
language to be added to translation statistics and future official releases.

Hi Friedel, sorry for not responding earlier.

Yes, you could certainly use msgfmt -cv. In fact, that is probably
easier--the output is more succinct. I think check_po.pl does a few
additional checks, some of which you might not want. Like making sure
translated strings have the same leading and trailing whitespace as
the English string.

Just wanted to announce that I have released Pidgin 2.6.4. It's available for
download at Sourceforge (https://sourceforge.net/projects/pidgin/files/).

Among the notable fixes for this release are the recent MSN friendly name reset
issue and the AIM Blast formatting issue.

Just for completeness, im.pidgin.pidgin is no longer string frozen. We are
ready for development on Pidgin 2.6.5.

2.6.4 release. No strings are allowed to change during the freeze.

Upcoming string freeze

Hi, everyone. Just a warning that I'm planning to announce a string freeze next
weekend.

The freeze will run from Sunday, 2009-11-22 through at least Sunday, 2009-11-29,
with a planned release on the evening of November 29. The release may be
delayed, and in that case the string freeze will be extended until release.

Generally speaking, I'd love to see people step up and translate as much
of our website as possible. If people are not interested in directly
translating what's there, maintaining a foreign language page on our
site would be my next choice. If people are not interested in doing
that, linking to a third party site seems okay to me, as long as we're
clear that it's not official.

Link to a website in the user's language

Hi there,

Björn and I (the German pidgin translators) often get e-mails with
support requests for Pidgin, some of them even being Windows-related.
Most of those messages are sent by users who cannot or just don't feel
like looking through the English FAQ in the wiki or writing an English
mail to the users' list. As you might already guess, that is often
related to the language. ;-)
Mostly we cannot really help the sender, especially with Windows-related
problems. Instead we regularly point them to a German website with a lot
of information about Pidgin, Windows builds, a forum and so on.
I guess, many of you face the same situations more or less frequently. A
also assume that a page like that exists for various languages and so I
thought, maybe it'd be a good idea - with the permission from the ones
who run these pages of course - to either put links to those pages on
the pidgin.im website, the wiki or directly into the client, maybe as a
localizable string in the about window.
The latter would of course be a problem for languages for which a page
like that does not exist, but before talking about implementation
details, which we wouldn't have to worry about anyway, I'd like to hear
what you (fellow translators and devs who happen to read the
translators' list) think about the idea.

that seems to be hardcoded and unavailable for translation: "STUN server".
It uses the shortcut letter U. I would very much like to get that changed
as it conflicts with another string whose shortcut I do not want to alter
due to concerns over consistency in the UI.

Is it possible to make "STUN server" available for translation?

A cat pounces on a mouse. One person pounces on another when [s]he
comes upon the other suddenly and unexpectedly. In this context, you
have set up what we call a "buddy pounce", which is an action
(determined by the settings in the buddy pounce dialog) that is
triggered by an event (usually when a buddy signs on or returns from
being away). Apparently buddy pounces that result in dialogs now show
up in a unified dialog. Even though I don't recall that change, this
seems immediately evident from the text in your screen shot. However,
I have seen questions about the term "buddy pounce" before, typically
from non-americans, so perhaps people in other countries don't pounce
on their friends?

Does anyone know, what does the string "You have pounced!" mean? Another
question is, if this title is really appropriate?

Isn't something like "You received new buddy pounces" or just "New
pounces" like in the title more appropriate? One problem is, that there
can be 1 (title "New pounce") or more buddy pounces (title in plural
form "New pounces") in the dialog.

If you put "Refs #10446" (no quotes necessary) in the message, it'll

This message sounds awkward to me, a native English speaker.

How about something like this:
"The certificate is issued by an unknown root."

Or better, this message from Firefox:
"The certificate is not trusted because the issuer certificate is
unknown."

Unless someone objects, I'm going to commit the latter.

What does this do differently than msgfmt -cv? All translators should
be checking that before submitting translations. To my best knowledge,
in the GNOME project there is a pre-commit hook to disallow commits
of .po files that don't pass msgfmt -cv.

Apart from avoiding crashing situations, I would encourage translators
to also look at pofilter which allows for testing several other issues
that might help to improve quality:

Mismatched c-format specifiers

Hi!

Elliott 'QuLogic' Sales de Andrade noticed that a few of our
translations had mismatched format specifiers (the %s and %d bits in
some strings). This can cause a crash when the string is formatted.
For example, if you simply change the order of %s and %d then Pidgin
will try to print a number as a string, which is bad. This email is a
friendly reminder to please be careful with c-format strings.

You can run the check_po.pl script to detect these problems. This
script can be found in the po/ subdirectory of the Pidgin source code.

It IS possible to change the order of c-format specifiers.

We "fixed" a few of these problems in 2.6.2 by marking the strings as
fuzzy, which should cause them to not be used. If you're the
translator for one of these languages you may want to grab a copy of
your translation from our repo before you start translating for the
next release (not currently scheduled, hopefully at least 3 weeks
away): bn el mn zh_CN
