I might have this wrong somehow, but it looks like the latest backports
release of Pidgin 2.6.1-1mdv2009.1 does not have the new Pidgin voice and
video support compiled in.

I don't see any deps for the packages needed to support these new features in
the spec file of the Pidgin SRPM, and don't see any of the options to use the
new features in the appropriate protocols.

Is anyone else seeing this?

If these new features are really not there and I just don't have their usage
wrong, any chance we can get a Pidgin backports package for 2009.1 with these
compiled in?

It only works for google talk/xmpp right now. The easiest way to see if
it works is by checking if there is a "Media" (or similar) menu in a
chat view.

To find out who of your contacts has support for audio/video, start
pidgin in debugging mode (pidgin -d), and look for 'voice' string in the
logs.

Does that Media entry only show up if the contact has the capability? Or is it
there and grayed out?

I didn't see any of the deps for the voice and video in the spec file and none
of them were installed along with the upgraded Pidgin app. I did install these
separately, but not sure still if I can just say, click on a Jabber contact
and see the Media entry in the conversation window even if they don't have the
capability?

Right now on a supported protocol I don't see the entry.
