Planet-core kernel on Macbook Pro

Hello,

I've installed the CCRMA kernel on my Macbook Pro on the latest Fedora,
and when I boot into it, the screen is full of black with a giant white
blob for a mouse pointer.

Is there anything I can do about this? It worked fine with the standard
kernel.

Many thanks,

Gareth Foster

I've been having problems with Zyn sounding pretty bad for awhile now.
I'm on FC11 with the RT kernel and have Jack running in real time.

Other soft synths don't have this problem, only Zyn.

I tried to increase it's priority and puts around with the settings, but
it doesn't seem to matter what I do to it. It always does the same. If I
use it for more than one sound and if it's a sustained sound, with long
notes. It just sounds like it cuts out. Kind of like when Jack gets
xruns. But jack gets no xruns, the processor's running at 25%, everything
else runs fine. It's only Zyn that cuts out.

Any ideas?

Most probably there's nothing you can do, sorry. The rt kernel does not
include some of the patches that are part of the stock Fedora kernel
packages, one set is the one that patches the video driver... so most
probably (just guessing) one of those patches is what enables you to use
your Mac video chipset...

I have not had time to even look at those patches, I just know that they
don't patch cleanly on top of rt + the vanilla kernel, so I left them
out.
