Planner-list Clipboard

Hey,

Short version: Is there a way to "ctrl-c ctrl-v" task on planner?
Long version: We manage projects in "cycles". Each cycle has several default tasks/subtasks underneath it. Every time I want my project to have a new cycle, I have to manually type those in. Instead, I'd like to just copy/paste a "sample cycle" from my project plan (or even other project plan).

Is there a solution / work around for it??

Thanks in advance,

Emerson,

The only way to move tasks around that I have found is to use the Move Task Up and Move Task Down buttons on the button bar or using the drop down menu under Actions.
Cutting and pasting would be nice to have in a future version.

Ok, thanks.

I ended up finding a workaround on internet. I had to edit the xml manually and then use an xlst and xlstproc to fix the ids.

My impression is that Planner dev. group hasn’t figured yet that this is a *huge* limitation and that makes the product almost unusable in professional environments.

Really… I’m not over reacting here. Take any software development project that uses, for instance, RUP methodology. It’ll have many “iterations” and most of them will have pretty much the same structure. Have to type them in manually is a tedious, time consuming and error prone task.

Aside of that one, it’s a good product and cover most of average needs.

Emerson

It is currently not possible. However a feature request has been filed
for this: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=341504
You can add your mail to CC and you'll receive updates whenever
something new happens for this request.

As suggested in the feature request and by yourself, the XML way is a
workaround for now.

Maybe we have figured out that such a feature would indeed be nice but
we lack manpower to add all the nice features :)
If you think you can help us get that feature, your help would be welcome.
